TMR — enclosed traction induction motor for trams and metro 60–381 kW
TMR is a series of compact traction induction motors rated 60–381 kW, mostly in an enclosed self-ventilated design. The motors are fitted to trams, light rail transit (LRT) and metro cars. The enclosed housing protects the active part from the dust, moisture and brake dust typical of cities and reduces the maintenance effort.

Description
The motor is a three-phase induction motor with a squirrel-cage rotor and a copper cage. The winding is designed for supply from a traction inverter, and two or more motors can be connected in parallel to one inverter. The insulation is class 220, the bearings are insulated, and the design withstands shock and vibration. Most versions are enclosed and some are open; in both cases cooling is by air with self-ventilation.
The series exists in versions for transverse and longitudinal installation in the bogies of low-floor cars. The manufacturer selects the version together with the gearbox and the suspension arrangement. According to the reference lists, TMR versions have a voltage of 400–2450 V, a maximum rotational speed of up to 5801 rpm and a mass of 270–1100 kg.
The TMR 35-28-4 at 125 kW is fitted to 71-631 trams in Saint Petersburg and Daugavpils, and the TMR 35-30-4 at 105 kW to Stadler Metelitsa 85300M trams and Tango trams in Ostrava. The TMR 25-42-4 (72 kW) runs on 71-911/71-931 trams, the TMR 35-18-4 (60 kW) on the PESA Jazz Duo in Warsaw and on Hyundai Rotem trams. The Stadler J/JK metro for Berlin has the TMR 39A-18-4 at 100 kW, and the CAF M300 metro for Helsinki has the TMR 50-20-4 at 230 kW. The most powerful TMR in the references, the TMR 52-40-4 (381 kW, 2450 V), runs on CAF Civia electric trains for Renfe.
TMR motors also run on Bombardier Flexity, Vossloh/Stadler Citylink and Tramlink, CAF Urbos, Bozankaya and Kinki Sharyo trams, in the Brussels metro and on CNR diesel trains for Ghana, and they are also used to modernise trams and electric trains. According to the reference lists, the Bombardier Flexity Swift in Porto and the Flexity M5000 in Manchester have the TMR 36-30-4, the Kinki Sharyo light rail cars for Phoenix and Seattle the TMR 40-28-4, and the Citylink in Karlsruhe and the Bozankaya trams for Kayseri the TMR 35-33-4. The motor is designed for the actual duty cycle of the route. The customer gives the manufacturer the duty cycle data and the results of traction calculations, from which the manufacturer determines energy consumption and winding temperatures and confirms that the version is suitable for specific routes. Requirements are taken from the IEC 60349 series. The motors are designed, built and tested at the manufacturer's own test station in Wiener Neudorf, and the Long-Life Value Service for the whole service life covers an exchange pool, repair and modernisation.
