Description
Coradia is a family of regional trains. Coradia Stream is a single-deck regional and intercity electric multiple unit with concentrated traction for 1.5 kV DC, 3 kV DC, 15 kV 16.7 Hz and 25 kV 50 Hz networks. The articulated version is 66–121 m long and the semi-articulated one 110–202 m, with one or two doors per car side and a door opening of 1300 mm, a boarding height of 620 or 800 mm and a speed of up to 200 km/h. More than 700 trains have been sold in 12 European countries.
Wide entrances, low-floor boarding and a flat floor from the first to the last doors make the train accessible. Roof-mounted equipment makes maintenance easier, and the trains are prepared for HealthHub condition-based maintenance. Coradia Max has higher capacity and consists of double-deck or mixed trains of 3–6 cars, 80–159 m long, for 320–700 seats, with a boarding height of about 600 or 780 mm.
The intermediate single-deck cars of Coradia Max are motorised, for 1.5/3 kV DC and 15/25 kV AC networks. Speed is 160 km/h for regional and 200 km/h for intercity trains, GoA2 automation can be integrated, and the gauges are UIC 505, G1 FR3.3, G2 DE2, G2 DE3. More than 500 trains have been ordered, life cycle cost savings reach 40 % and recyclability of materials is 95 %. The exterior for LNVG received the Good Design Award 2022.
The DSB (Denmark) framework contract worth 2.6 billion euros covers 100 Coradia Stream trains with 15 years of maintenance. NS (Netherlands) ordered 99 IC-NG trains with a speed of 200 km/h and a total of 25 000 seats. There is a Coradia Stream Nordic for Norway. Coradia Max was ordered by CFL (34 trains 80 and 160 m long, 160 km/h, operating in Luxembourg, Belgium and France) and LNVG (34 trains, Germany). The manufacturer produces the Mitrac Power traction converters, Mitrac Transformer transformers and Mitrac Protect switchgear itself.
