Description
The platform combines components proven in service with new technologies. The train is configured for passenger flow and for existing or new infrastructure. The options are small or large gauge, from 2 to 9 cars, automatic operation up to fully driverless or manual control, the supply voltage system, steel wheels or pneumatic tyres, the shape of the front end, the carbody and the interior. Examples of customised versions are the C30 metro for Stockholm and the MP05 metro on pneumatic tyres for Paris.
A car up to 25 m long and up to 3.2 m wide holds up to 300 passengers at a density of 6 persons/m². Recyclability of materials exceeds 96 %, and the low mass of the structure reduces energy consumption. The interior has wide LCD screens, projections on the windows, surround sound for announcements, LED lighting and a low noise level. Passengers are informed about car occupancy, and there are intelligent safety systems. The air treatment system removes pollutants, dust, aerosols, viruses and bacteria, and passenger flow management makes access easier for passengers with reduced mobility.
According to the manufacturer, every fourth metro train in the world is built at its plants. More than 35 000 metro cars have been built, about 6000 of them for driverless lines. Metros of this platform operate in more than 70 cities, for 80+ customers in 40+ countries, and carry 15 billion passengers every year. The manufacturer's cars are operated by 9 of the 10 oldest metro systems in the world, and production is located in 11 countries.
The manufacturer also supplies turnkey metros together with the Urbalis CBTC signalling system and power supply, with full automation and short commissioning times. Metropolis projects exist in North and South America (USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Panama), in Europe (France, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey), and also in Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, China, India and Australia, where trains run on the rapid metro line in Sydney. Low life cycle costs and quiet, safe operation are among the design requirements. A metro renewing its fleet orders a train for the existing tunnel gauge, platforms and power supply system.
