Description
The manufacturer has more than 60 years of designing, building and servicing commuter trains. More than 45 000 commuter cars have been sold, and Adessia trains are used by more than 20 million passengers. More than 60 turnkey commuter systems operate in 15 countries.
Adessia Stream is a flexible modular single-deck high-floor train for commuter service at 120–200 km/h. Adessia Max combines single-deck and double-deck high-floor cars, has higher capacity and easier passenger access, at the same speed. Adessia coach is a commuter coach for North America, single-deck or double-deck, for commuter and interregional service up to 200 km/h. Adessia Stream B and Stream H are single-deck high-floor battery or hydrogen trains for non-electrified commuter networks, designed for 120–160 km/h.
Stream B and Stream H trains have zero direct emissions and take commuter service beyond electrified networks, where diesel trains run now. Ecodesign priorities include energy efficiency, recyclability, lower noise and CO2 emissions, and end-of-life management. Since 2014 the energy consumption of the manufacturer's electric commuter trains has fallen by 20 %, and recyclability in the new generation reaches 95 %. The family is built on components proven in service. The manufacturer transfers its experience of regional hydrogen and battery trains to commuter networks, where the range without recharging reaches a thousand kilometres and such traction is enough to replace diesel.
The train is configured for the customer, from exterior design and dimensions to interior layout, seats and lighting. Seating layouts of 1+2 and 2+2 or longitudinal seating are possible, as well as a restaurant or bar in the train. The interior is designed with passenger safety, health and comfort in mind, with information and connectivity on board, and taking operator requirements into account.
Deliveries include a battery commuter train for Irish Rail, a hybrid one for Tren Maya and an electric one for Melbourne. In India the manufacturer showed a train concept for the RRTS regional rapid transit system. Adessia trains are designed for passenger growth in urban areas, where commuter rail becomes the basis of urban mobility.
