TME — self-ventilated traction induction motor 56–300 kW
TME is a series of self-ventilated traction induction motors rated 56–300 kW. The fan is mounted directly on the shaft, so no separate cooling system is needed on the car. The motors are fitted to metro cars, suburban and regional electric trains and trams with frequent starts.

Description
Self-ventilation simplifies the bogie layout and reduces the car's auxiliary energy consumption, which is a noticeable difference for metro and suburban trains with frequent starts. The design is the same as in the manufacturer's other lines. The rotor is squirrel-cage with a copper cage, the stator winding is designed for supply from a traction inverter, and the insulation is class 220. Insulated bearings or grounding brushes protect against bearing currents.
The motor is designed for a specific drive, with axle-hung or frame-mounted suspension, with a gearbox from the manufacturer or from a third party. The basic design is open and self-ventilated. A totally enclosed design is used for some trams, including CAF Urbos for Houston and Maryland. According to the reference lists, TME versions have a voltage of 440–2340 V, a maximum rotational speed of up to 5635 rpm, a mass of 360–1435 kg and a starting torque of up to 4768 N·m.
The TME 43-16-4 is fitted to 81-775 metro cars (198 kW, 530 V), the TME 43-23-4 to 81-760/765 cars (170 kW), and the TME 49-15-4 to the Minsk metro (120 kW). The Los Angeles HR4000 metro runs on the TME 46-17-4 (193 kW), and the Vienna Type X on the TME 45-19-4 (180 kW). The upper power limit is held by the TME 46-32-4 at 300 kW and 2340 V for EG2Tv electric trains. The TME 48-45-6 at 286 kW and 1435 kg runs on Indian Railways diesel trains. Among other metros, the reference lists name the CAF M7 for Amsterdam with the TME 46-15-4, CAF cars for Bilbao and Euskotren with the TME 44-26-4, the London DLR with the TME 42-18-4 and the modernised Line 3 cars of CPTM in São Paulo with the TME 43-18-4. The series also runs on the Jungfraubahn and Pilatusbahn rack electric trains, in trams and LRT, and in the UK it is used to modernise Class 321/455 electric trains.
Selection follows the real duty cycle. The customer gives the manufacturer the cycle data and the results of traction calculations; from these the manufacturer determines winding temperatures and energy consumption and confirms that the chosen design is suitable for specific routes. Requirements for the motors are taken from the IEC 60349 series. The motors are designed, built and tested at the manufacturer's own test station in Wiener Neudorf. The Long-Life Value Service is available for the whole service life, with an exchange pool, repair and modernisation.
