TCMS (HYPEX platform) train control and diagnostics system
TCMS is an onboard train control and monitoring system built on the manufacturer's own modular HYPEX hardware platform with Ethernet per IEC 61375. It controls the power circuit, collects diagnostics and links onboard subsystems with ground services. The TCMS-EMU, TCMS-TRAM and TCMS-GENERAL versions cover electric multiple units, trams and other rolling stock.

Description
The HYPEX platform is designed for onboard systems with a large volume of computation and high network throughput. All critical components are redundant, so that the train remains controllable after the failure of an individual node. Processor units, displays and input-output modules perform control and diagnostic functions. They are programmed in PLC languages and C/C++, and logging and remote access via Ethernet shorten commissioning and fault finding. In the TCMS-EMU version, the system controls the power circuit of the electric multiple unit from the pantographs to the traction motors.
Communication within the train and inside a unit is built on Ethernet networks per the TCN standard IEC 61375, and data is exchanged using the real-time IP protocol TRDP. At unit level a Gigabit Ethernet ring with fast recovery after a failure operates, and a linear topology is also possible. The HYPEX ETBN node routes packets between the ETB and ECN networks and meets the requirements of IEC 61375-2-5 and IEC 61375-2-3. The TTDP protocol tracks changes in train composition, performs ETB inauguration and itself configures routing tables and address translation rules. Routing performance exceeds 300 kfps even with R-NAT and the firewall enabled. The ETB backbone is connected through four gigabit ports with bypass relays, so it works even when one node is de-energized. A redundant ETB and ECN connection is built on two ETBN nodes in active/standby mode.
MVB and CAN buses and RS-232/422/485 serial interfaces are additionally supported. For exchange with ground systems, wireless 3G/4G, GSM-R and Wi-Fi channels are provided. The HYPEX modules are common to many onboard devices and are quickly replaced, and inside a device data between modules goes over 10 Gbit/s lines.
The TCMS connects to the PREMIS predictive diagnostics system, which transmits data from selected onboard systems to cloud services, the MACS multimedia system (passenger information, public address, video surveillance, passenger counting) and the ATO automatic train operation system. ATO plans the run according to the timetable and with regard to energy consumption, but the driver remains in the cab for abnormal situations. ACS positioning relies on its own odometry, multi-band GNSS and balises. The independent emergency driving module EDM makes it possible to bring the train safely to its destination in case of TCMS failure. The hardware and software are developed, manufactured and supported by the manufacturer's digital division.
