ForCity — 100 % low-floor trams (Smart, Classic, Alfa, Plus) 240–1200 kW

ForCity is a family of 100 % low-floor trams in the versions ForCity Smart, Classic, Alfa, Plus and Elektra. The trams are built in single-ended and double-ended designs for track from 950 to 1524 mm and a 600–750 V DC overhead network. The maximum power, depending on the configuration, is 240–1200 kW.

Description

The main platform of recent years is the ForCity Smart. The mass is evenly distributed between the bogies, so the axle load is low, and together with the swivel bogie this reduces track maintenance costs. Fewer articulations between sections improve the sound and heat insulation of the interior. The design of the bogie and the car made it possible to place sixteen additional seats on a raised platform in the interior. The overhead line voltage is 600–750 V DC with a tolerance of +20 % / −30 %, the maximum speed is 80 km/h, the car width is 2300–2650 mm and the longitudinal strength of the body is up to 400 kN.

The tram is assembled from a single-section car (2 bogies) to a four-section one (5 bogies), and the share of motor bogies is from 50 to 100 %. The adhesion weight is selected for the profile of the network. A single-section car has 2 motor bogies with 100 % adhesion weight or 1 motor bogie with 50 %, and a four-section one gets 5, 4 or 3 motor bogies with 100, 80 or 70 % adhesion weight. The ForCity Smart Artic (X54) variant for Helsinki and Tampere is a multi-section tram with fully swivelling bogies for 1000 mm track and up to 40 % more flat-floor area.

The ForCity Alfa, Plus and Smart are equipped with permanent magnet synchronous motors of the company's own production and a gearless drive, and each motor has a separate inverter. The ForCity Plus 52T for Prague has five sections, a length of 31,990 mm and carries 243 passengers, 70 of them seated. The speed is 70 km/h, the brakes are electromechanical, the air conditioning uses R290 refrigerant and there is a collision avoidance system. The group makes the traction equipment, battery cooling systems and air conditioning itself.

ForCity trams operate in Bonn, Kassel, the RNV network (Mannheim), Brno, Plzeň, Ostrava, Helsinki on the Jokeri line, Tampere and Prague. The ForCity Classic runs in Chemnitz, and deliveries also went to Eskişehir and Konya in Turkey. The capacity of the trams for Ostrava and Plzeň is counted at 4 persons/m² including seated passengers. The group carries out testing and homologation in an accredited laboratory. Welding of bodies and components is certified to EN 15085-2, and the management system complies with IRIS (ISO/TS 22163), ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001. For operation, the Datarail online monitoring, predictive diagnostics and full service are offered.
