Description
Each car rests on two separate bogies in the classic arrangement. The body width depends on the track gauge and is 2820 or 3370 mm, with gauge G2 and upper-part widening DE2 or DE3 according to EN 15273-2 or GOST 9238. The trains are low-floor, with access for wheelchairs to the lower deck. Each car has two pairs of doors 800–1300 mm wide, and the boarding height is 550–960 mm above top of rail, so passenger exchange at stops is fast. Acceleration is up to 1 m/s², and regeneration returns up to 35 % of braking energy to the overhead line. Depending on the order, the train receives one of three supply schemes, namely 3 kV DC, dual-system 3 kV DC + 25 kV 50 Hz or 25 kV 50 Hz.
The traction electrical equipment, motors and control systems are made by the company itself. The cars are built by the group's plant in Ostrava, and the traction equipment is supplied by the traction division in Plzeň. The series 471 CityElefant for the Czech Republic consists of three cars and runs on 3 kV DC in suburban service. The train has 310 seats and carries 640 passengers, and four asynchronous traction motors of 500 kW each give 2000 kW and a speed of 140 km/h. The series 575 runs in Lithuania and the series 671 in Slovakia.
The series 675 for Ukrzaliznytsia is a dual-system six-car interregional train. Its power is 4000 kW, the speed 160 km/h, the seating 536 seats and the train length 158.4 m. It is designed for temperatures of ±40 °C, and the motor cars provide eight bicycle places each. Dual-system supply allows the 675 to be run both on 3 kV direct current lines and on 25 kV 50 Hz lines without changing traction at border stations. Such trains are already in service in Ukraine, so repeat procurement and maintenance rely on the existing experience of depots and the operator.
The group carries out testing and homologation of rolling stock on its own, in an accredited test laboratory. Welding of bodies and components is certified to EN 15085-2, and the management system complies with IRIS (ISO/TS 22163), ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001. For operation, the Datarail online monitoring, predictive diagnostics and full service are offered.
