Description
PERAR Subsea Gate subsea gate valves are designed to API 6DSS, API 6A and API 17D taking project requirements into account; they are made by the company's subsea division in Delebio. The range includes full-bore slab gate valves (TC Slab Gate), twin slab gate valves (Twin Slab Gate; two closures in one body for a double barrier), slab gate valves with an integrated axial check valve (a compact unit combining shutoff and backflow protection), and valves with a double expanding gate.
The valves do not use grease or sealant for sealing between the gate and the seats. Seats are floating, spring-loaded, with metal-to-metal sealing. A tungsten carbide coating 0.25 mm thick is applied to the seats and 0.4 mm to the gate. Non-elastomeric seals are used, which exclude gradual degradation over the service life, and all primary pressure boundaries, including the stem in the fail-safe position, are sealed metal to metal. Optionally there is a double back seat, which gives metal sealing of the stem in both the open and the closed position. Sealing on the outlet seat with a pressurized cavity helps ensure a guaranteed stroke to the safe position. Gas tightness is to API 6A PSL3G and PSL4.
The body, cover and nipples are made of A350 LF2, A694 F52–F65, A182 F22 with Inconel 625 overlay, duplex 22 % Cr, super duplex 25 % Cr, and Inconel 625. The trim is also available in Inconel 718. Gaskets are BX, lip seals are PTFE+Elgiloy, V-packs are PTFE+PEEK+Elgiloy, and HNBR AED rings protect against seawater. Fasteners are A320 L7/A193 B7 and L7M/B7M with Xylan or nickel-zinc coating, A453 Gr.660, and super duplex S32760. Forgings are made to API 6A PSL3.
Sizes range from 1/2 inch to small and medium API 6A bores (1 13/16, 2 1/16, 3 1/8, 4 1/16, 5 1/8 inches and beyond) for pressures from 900–1500 lbs (3000 psi) up to 15000 psi. The valves are operated by the company's hydraulic actuator with manual override by ROV or by a gearbox for ROV.
At the plant, PR2 cyclic tests to API 6A, sand slurry tests to API 14D and hyperbaric tests (simulating external pressure of 50 and 450 bar) are carried out. The valves are intended for subsea trees, manifolds and pipelines of offshore gas fields.
