Description
Floating-ball valves are designed for natural gas distribution networks and are made at a plant in Houston (USA). All have a fully welded body with no potential leak paths, require no maintenance and are marked with an individual serial number on a plate for full traceability. The body is made of the same pipe material as the gas pipeline, so the valves are suitable for underground and above-ground installation.
The line has several versions. The Pipeline model is the basic and most common one: a fully welded steel valve with standard bore, stainless steel ball and stem, quarter-turn operation and a locking plate with POWERSTOPS™ stops (600 ft-lbs) that prevent over-turning. Sizes are from 3/4 to 8 inches, pressures 285 psi (ANSI 150) and 740 psi (ANSI 300), with weld ends, weld × flange or flanges. The Premium is full bore, made of high-strength machined forged parts, with a short face-to-face length convenient for metering and regulating stations. The Utility is an economical short flanged valve for replacing plug valves and cast-iron-body valves.
The BALLOTAP™ valve is full bore, for hot tapping into live gas pipelines: a weld end and a threaded end for the special BALLOTAP™ flange, compatible with common drilling and tapping machines. An O-ring in the flange makes it possible to test the weld before tapping.
Seats of PTFE with 25 % carbon (grade G-453) do not absorb water or swell, are chemically resistant and tested up to 482 °F. The seals are preloaded by stainless steel Belleville disc springs. The stem seal is redundant (Viton, Buna N, NBR), the stem bearings are zinc-plated, and the stem is grounded to discharge static charge and protected against blow-out. Working pressures are 285, 500 and 740 psi. Weld ends are made of A106 Gr.B pipe, flanges to ANSI B16.5 of A105, any connection variants are available, including female thread, as well as gearboxes, actuators and limit switches.
Every valve is hydraulically tested to API 6D for body strength and seat tightness, with an additional low-pressure air test. Valves of 2–8 inches undergo fugitive emission testing to API 641.

Questions and answers
What sizes and pressures do the Pipeline valves have?
From 3/4 to 8 inches, pressures 285 psi (ANSI 150) and 740 psi (ANSI 300). Weld ends, weld × flange or flanges.
What is the BALLOTAP valve for?
For hot tapping into live gas pipelines. A weld end and a threaded end for the special BALLOTAP™ flange, and an O-ring in the flange makes it possible to test the weld before tapping.
What tests do the valves undergo?
Hydraulic tests to API 6D for body strength and seat tightness, with an additional low-pressure air test. Valves of 2–8 inches are checked for fugitive emissions to API 641.
