Description

B-Disc is a double offset butterfly valve for controlling flows in industrial processes. It combines high capacity with precise control and suits both throttling and tight shutoff. The double offset of the disc axis from the body and seal axes moves the disc away from the seat at the very start of rotation, so wear and torque are reduced. In the closed position the disc seats tightly against the seat. The shaft is protected against blowout.

For conditions with a risk of cavitation or increased noise, a disc with drilled fins is offered. A high-capacity trim and a fast-acting version for fast opening or closing are available. Each variant is selected by calculation of the operating conditions. Seats are metal, soft or dual combined. The leakage class reaches V for the metal seat and VI for the soft seat.

Range from 2 to 90 inches, ANSI classes 150–900 and PN 10–160. Materials include carbon, low-temperature and low-alloy steels, austenitic stainless steels, duplex and super duplex steels, nickel alloys, aluminum bronze, titanium and EN grades. Stem packing is graphite, PTFE or low-emission. Connections are ANSI flanged (RF/RTJ), wafer and lug. Actuators are pneumatic, electric, hydraulic and electro-hydraulic, and a manual gearbox is available.

The valve has passed fugitive emission tests to ISO 15848-1 and fire tests to API 607. It has a SIL assessment to IEC 61508 with PFD values up to the SIL 3 range. These figures document tightness against external emissions and functional safety, which matters for gas lines with strict equipment safety requirements.

Large-size butterfly control valves are justified where high flow rates at moderate pressures are needed. These include compressor recirculation and suction lines, fuel gas pipelines, gas treatment and purification plants, flare systems, compressor station cooling water and chemical processes. The seat type, material and actuator are selected for the medium, pressure and temperature of the particular line.
