Description

This item covers onboard train control and diagnostic equipment. The TCMS links and monitors equipment through the train network, improves train operation and passenger service, and reduces operating costs. It includes a central control unit (CCU), remote input-output units (RIO) and a driver display. Data are exchanged with equipment through discrete and analog inputs and outputs, RS-485 and Ethernet. The network of fixed-formation trains complies with IEC 61375-3-4 (ECN), and networks are separated and connected by ETBN nodes.

The TCMS transmits traction commands, controls the train brakes and distributes tractive torque. With a remote terminal, fault logs are read remotely, and commands can be sent from the ground. This supports condition-based maintenance. Driver controllers are built for both high-speed main lines and urban lines, so the equipment is selected to the type of rolling stock. Driver controllers come with one or two handles, including contactless detection of handle position and a serial interface. The controller for high-speed trains has a horizontal axis for the right hand, a control voltage of 100 V DC, 13 traction positions and OFF, and a solenoid interlock of the reverser handle. The controller for urban lines has a single handle: 100 V, 5 traction positions, OFF, 7 braking positions, emergency braking, a parallel-lever mechanism and a vigilance button.

The event recorder continuously records speed, train position, controller positions and brake actions. It meets the requirements of Japanese technical standards for recording devices. The supply is 24 or 100 V DC, and consumption is up to 5 W. The medium is a CF card of 256–512 MB, the recording interval is 200 ms, and a 256 MB card holds about 270 hours with cyclic overwriting. Time is corrected by GPS.

The remote monitoring system transmits data over public networks, including 5G, to the cloud (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Alibaba Cloud). Access is through a browser from a PC, tablet or smartphone. The recorder and the monitoring system work alongside the TCMS and complement its fault logs with train running data. The terminal is built into the VVVF inverter and the APS, and it can also be fitted to existing rolling stock.
