VEMoModular SQ / SR is a modular series of high-voltage three-phase induction motors rated up to 25 MW for 0.69–13.8 kV. Squirrel-cage or wound-rotor versions, shaft height 355–1000 mm. Drives for pumps, compressors, induced-draft fans and mills in power generation and heavy industry.

Description
The series was designed entirely in Germany and is built at the plant in Dresden. The motors are intended for high-power drives in power generation, metallurgy, the chemical, oil and gas, pulp and paper, cement and mining industries, as well as in water supply and wastewater systems. The standard 6–11 kV range (other voltages on request) covers 180–13,200 kW and runs from a 50/60 Hz supply and from medium-voltage frequency converters.
The motor is assembled from standardised modules: a welded steel frame with feet (with a flange for the vertical version V1), a laminated stator core with winding, a rotor with squirrel-cage or wound winding, end shields, a heat exchanger on the housing and a shaft-mounted fan. Insulation is the VEMoDUR VPI 155 system with vacuum pressure impregnation. The fully symmetrical frame allows the main and auxiliary terminal boxes to be placed freely, and the welded construction makes it possible to reproduce the connection dimensions of other makers' machines being replaced.
The Modular SQ version with a squirrel-cage rotor covers ratings up to 25 MW at speeds up to 3600 rpm, frame size 355–800 mm, 2–20 poles. The Modular SR version with a wound rotor (up to 20 MW, up to 1800 rpm, frame size 400–1000 mm) is designed for heavy starting, including mills, large fans and conveyors, and for operation from a weak grid. For it the manufacturer supplies the VEMoDRIVE SCC subsynchronous cascade. Cooling follows schemes IC01, IC611 and derivatives, IC81W/IC8xW, bearings are rolling or sleeve type, degree of protection IP23 or IP55.
On request the motors are made in explosion-protected versions Ex e, Ex p, Ex t and with ATEX, IECEx, EAC, CCC certificates; two-pole machines are fitted with noise silencers. Type tests are carried out on the company's own test beds rated up to 6 MW, including vertical ones. The motors comply with EN/IEC 60034-1, vibration is evaluated per ISO 10816-3 and balancing per ISO 21940-2. The series is a direct replacement for 6–10 kV high-voltage induction motors for pumps, compressors, induced-draft fans and mills at thermal power plants and industrial enterprises.
