Description
The motors are intended for main and district belt conveyors of underground workings. The standard range covers powers of 315–1000 kW at voltages of 690–6000 V. The motors have 4 poles, horizontal foot-mounted design, class H insulation, a flameproof enclosure and forced ventilation. A belt conveyor runs for long periods with an almost constant load and needs a smooth start so as not to overload the belt and the drive. The design ambient temperature is 30 °C.
According to the manufacturer's brochure, conveyor motors are made with power up to 2000 kW at voltage up to 11,000 V. They can operate from a frequency converter down to low speeds, even at constant load torque. To maintain cooling as speed is reduced, independent ventilation units are installed.
Together with a partner, the manufacturer developed the first integrated 3300 V motor-inverter for future longwalls. The initial offer is as follows: 1200 kW on the shaft, 12-pulse input, cooling by mine water. Such a drive gives full torque control from zero to rated speed, a smooth start with a set time and lower shock loads. Up to 2.5 times rated torque is permitted at zero speed, and energy consumption is reduced. Controlled starting is especially useful for long conveyors, where a sharp start stretches the belt and loads the gearbox.
The motors are built to IEC standards. The certificates cover ATEX and IECEx, as well as the national mining systems TSA, MSHA, CSA, MA and TR CU, so the machines can be supplied to the main mining regions of the world. The motors are made for a specific conveyor, so dimensions, cooling method and voltage class are agreed with the drive project. The frequency converter with independent ventilation is selected together with the motor.
The item is close in purpose and voltage to the flameproof belt conveyor drive motors for 1140 V and 6 kV. For underground workings, important factors include explosion protection, resistance to dust and moisture, and the ability to run from a frequency converter without overheating. The final choice of motor depends on the drive power, the starting scheme and the ventilation conditions of the working, so the parameters are best agreed with the manager.
