Description
Pump and fan motors cover a variety of mining drives: from small fans of dust suppression units (scrubbers) and conveyor belt tensioners to hydraulic stations of powered roof supports and large main and auxiliary ventilation fans. They are used in coal mines, ore mines and tunnelling. A main ventilation fan runs almost continuously, while a dewatering pump or hydraulic station pump must start on command at any moment, so different duty and starting requirements apply to the motors.
The manufacturer produces air-cooled and water-cooled motors for any pumping and ventilation task. The choice between them depends on the availability of cooling water at the drive and the permissible machine dimensions. Built-in sets of active parts, stator and rotor, are also supplied to order for integration into the customer's equipment.
The standard range given on the group website covers 11–1000 kW and 415–6600 V. The number of poles is from 2 to 10. The design is horizontal, foot-mounted or flange-mounted, with class H insulation, a flameproof enclosure or one for safe areas, and water or air cooling. The design ambient temperature is 30 °C. Ventilation fans usually require continuous operation and pumps start on demand, so the cooling type, duty and starting method are specified in the order. The safe-area version is used where an explosive atmosphere is excluded, and the flameproof one where gas or dust may accumulate.
According to the manufacturer's brochure, pump and fan motors are made with power from 3 to 2000 kW at voltage up to 11,000 V. If required, they are compatible with operation from a frequency converter, which is useful for fans whose output is regulated according to the needs of the working. The parameters of a specific motor, including power, voltage and design, are clarified with the manager according to the drive project.
The motors are built to IEC and certified to ATEX, IECEx, TSA, MSHA, CSA, MA and TR CU. The item is close in purpose and voltage to the flameproof pump and ventilation fan motors for 660/1140 V and 6 kV.
