Description

In addition to standard series, the manufacturer produces custom-designed low- and medium-voltage induction motors. The full range of machines covers a wide variety of customer requirements for power, construction and operating conditions. Therefore the motor is not selected from a catalogue but calculated individually from the requirements, environment and target figures set by the customer, and verified by testing. Even the largest and most complex motors are designed for simple installation and convenient maintenance, although they have to work in the harshest conditions.

The designs are based on proven technologies, production experience, robotics, and a strict quality and testing system. A detailed analysis of the electromagnetic field and ventilation flows gives high efficiency, low electrical losses and reduced energy costs. The calculation also covers the thermal state of the machine, so the ventilation path is built from the results of the analysis and not from a typical scheme.

Stator insulation is made by robotic winding and vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) in an autoclave of suitable size. The winding gets firm bracing of the end turns and resistance to impulse overvoltages, and turn-to-turn faults and winding failures are reduced to a minimum. This process is what distinguishes custom-designed motors from assembly of ready-made units.

Mechanical strength is verified by static and dynamic calculation of the stator frame, rotor, shaft and bearings. Shafts are made of high-strength forged steel, which minimizes deflection and vibration. As a result the motor works for many years in severe conditions and has a long service life. For industrial sites this means less downtime for maintenance and replacement of components.

All motors comply with international standards, and installed machines are supported by the manufacturer's global service network. They are used in fans and blowers of low and medium power, in compressors, pumps and conveyors, and in drives for the metallurgical, mining, oil and gas and cement industries. Power, voltage, number of poles and enclosure type are determined for the particular task. Numerical parameters of this group are not given in the source materials. Custom design means that the motor is built to a given specification, environmental conditions and the target figures of the customer.

Questions and answers

Which drives are custom-designed motors intended for?

For fans and blowers of low and medium power, compressors, pumps and conveyors. Also for drives in metallurgy and in the mining, oil and gas and cement industries.

What insulation do the stator windings have?

The insulation is made by robotic winding and vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) in an autoclave. It is resistant to impulse overvoltages.

What are the shafts of these motors made of?

High-strength forged steel. The frame, rotor, shaft and bearings are calculated statically and dynamically to minimize deflection and vibration.
