Description
WB (Welded Body) ball valves are an all-welded version of the trunnion mounted valve, designed first of all for the line section of gas pipelines and of oil and oil product pipelines. The welded body has no split body joints, which are potential leak points to the environment. The valve is well suited to underground installation without a valve pit, with an extended stem. The design standard is API 6D.
The pressure range is ANSI classes from 150 to 2500. Nominal diameters are 2 to 60 inches for classes 150–600, 2 to 48 inches for class 900, 2 to 36 inches for class 1500, and 2 to 20 inches for class 2500. The manufacturer names typical fields of application: trunk transport of natural gas, oil and oil products, gas separation and storage systems, compressor stations, carbon dioxide (CO2) capture, metering skids and gas dehydration units.
Seats are metal with tungsten carbide or chromium carbide overlay for abrasive and contaminated media, or soft with PTFE/PEEK inserts. Materials include low-temperature carbon or low-alloy steel with corrosion-resistant overlay, duplex, super duplex and forged nickel alloys; seals, elastomers, thermoplastics and metal. Seats are self-relieving or double piston effect. The valve is unidirectional or bidirectional, full bore or reduced bore, with an anti-static device and a blow-out proof stem.
Special options are NACE versions, a special bore for pigs, double block and bleed and double isolation, a body equalising hole, an extended stem and cover, a position indicator, limit switches, and a maintainable WB execution that makes it possible to repair a welded valve. For connection there are RF/RTJ flanges, including compact and stud, weld ends and a hub. For operation there is a handwheel or manual gearbox, an electric multi-turn actuator, or a pneumatic or hydraulic quarter-turn actuator. The valves are suitable for transporting natural gas, crude oil and oil products, as well as for many other general industrial and oil and gas applications within ANSI classes 150–2500. Deliveries comply with PED and the international norms ANSI, API and ASME.

Questions and answers
How does the welded WB valve differ from a split body valve?
The body is all-welded, so there are no flanged body joints that could become leak points to the environment. For underground installation without a valve pit, the valve is fitted with an extended stem.
What diameters and classes are available?
Classes 150–600 from 2 to 60 inches, class 900 from 2 to 48 inches, class 1500 from 2 to 36 inches, class 2500 from 2 to 20 inches.
Can a welded valve be repaired?
Yes, there is the maintainable WB execution for this purpose. It is ordered as an option.
