Description
Wedge Gate and Parallel Slide valves are classic rising-stem shutoff valves that the manufacturer has made since the early 1960s. Both designs are engineered to API 600 and comply with ANSI, API, ASME, BS, ISO, NACE and PED. Wedge valves are also offered to API 6A.
Wedge valves are made with a bolted bonnet (solid, flexible or split wedge depending on service conditions, metal to metal or soft sealing) and with a self-sealing pressure seal bonnet (flexible or split wedge) for high pressures and temperatures. Parallel slide valves have two parallel discs and metal seats, and are also made with a bolted or pressure seal bonnet.
Range of parallel slide valves: ANSI classes 150–600 from 2 to 64 inches, 900 up to 54 inches, 1500 up to 48 inches, 2500 up to 30 inches. Wedge valves to API 6A: 3k–5k from 1 13/16 to 34 inches, 10k up to 16 inches, 15k up to 10 inches. Seats are metal with stellite overlay or with PTFE/RPTFE inserts. Body materials include low-temperature carbon or low-alloy steel with corrosion-resistant overlay, duplex, super duplex and forged nickel alloys. Seals are elastomers, thermoplastics, metal or graphite.
The design allows full or reduced bore, single- or double-sided sealing, and a stem with blowout protection. Options include NACE construction, special bore, bypass, live loaded packing, soft seat, and extended stem and bonnet. Connections are RF/RTJ flanges, compact and studded flanges, weld ends and hub. Operation is by handwheel or manual gearbox, electric multi-turn actuator or linear pneumatic actuator.
In 2026 the manufacturer reported deliveries of parallel slide valves for large gas field development projects. In the gas industry wedge and parallel slide valves are installed in the process piping of gas treatment plants, on blowdown and vent lines, at compressor stations and at processing facilities where simplicity, maintainability and operation at high temperatures matter.

Questions and answers
How do wedge and parallel slide gate valves differ?
The wedge valve has a solid, flexible or split wedge. The parallel slide valve has two parallel discs and metal seats.
What sizes do parallel slide valves have?
ANSI classes 150–600 up to 64 inches, 900 up to 54 inches, 1500 up to 48 inches, 2500 up to 30 inches.
Which bonnet is needed for high pressures and temperatures?
A self-sealing pressure seal bonnet with a flexible or split wedge. A bolted bonnet is made for lower pressures.
