Description
PERAR WB fully welded ball valves have a trunnion-mounted ball and a welded body of two or three forged parts with side entry. The welded body has no bolted joints through which leakage to the environment is possible, and it withstands pipeline loads well, so such valves are traditionally used on the line sections of gas pipelines and for buried installation.
Design is to API 6D, CSA Z245.15 and ASME B16.34. The size range is 1/2 to 68 inches, ASME classes 150–2500, temperatures from −46 to +400 °C, down to −60 °C on request. The bore is full or reduced. Seats are floating and spring-loaded; unlike split-body valves, the standard scheme here is double piston effect (DPE×DPE), with self-relieving seats on request. Seats are soft or metal. The ball and stem are independent, bearings are reinforced, and the stem and trunnion bearings are self-lubricating, which keeps torque low throughout the service life. The valve is suitable for horizontal and vertical installation.
Safety features: bidirectional sealing, double block and bleed, an anti-static device, a blow-out proof stem, fire-safe design (according to the catalog, testing to BS 6755 part 2, API 6FA or API 607), and air and drain fittings. On request, an emergency sealant injection system for the stem and seats and a body cavity relief valve against overpressure (recommended for liquid hydrocarbons) are available.
Connections are made with ASME B16.5/B16.47 flanges, 6B/6BX to API 6A, socket weld and butt weld ends, threads, hub, and ISO 27509 compact flanges. Options include an extended bonnet for buried installation, weld-end nipples, hardfacing of sealing and wetted surfaces, and compliance with NACE, PED and ATEX.
In gas transmission systems, WB valves are used on the line sections of trunk gas pipelines, on branches and in the piping of gas distribution stations, compressor stations and underground gas storage. The body is made of carbon steel A105 or low-temperature A350 LF2 or LF3, high-strength A694 F52, F60 and F65, and also of stainless, duplex and super duplex grades. Seats can have a tungsten carbide or chromium carbide coating at least 0.15 mm thick. On request, compliance with NACE MR0175 and MR-0103, PED 2014/68/UE and ATEX 2014/34/EU is available.
