Description
Type U is a top entry ball valve with a pot-shaped body for above-ground installation. It is used as shut-off valve in plants, gas stations, platforms and pumping stations in gas, oil and water systems. The main feature of the design is that the wearing parts (ball, seats, seals) can be replaced through the top cover without removing the valve from the pipeline. This is convenient on critical sections where cutting the valve out of the line is difficult or requires a long shutdown, and for media with high abrasiveness.
The ball is trunnion-mounted. The stem has a double seal with a fire-safe packing and anti-blowout protection, and the design allows the passage of cleaning pigs. A device for injecting secondary sealant is provided. The seats come with a single or double piston effect, and the closure is sealed by one of three systems, namely PMSS (primary metal, secondary soft), SO (soft) or MM (metal to metal). The valve is suitable for natural and sour gas, oil including sulphurous oil, hot and cold water, and is mostly installed on flanges.
Sizes according to the specification are from 6″ to 42″, pressure up to CLASS 2500. The catalogue clarifies that the valve is available up to 48″ for Class 900, up to 24″ for Class 1500, up to 12″ for Class 2500. Temperature versions: minimum from −60 to +80 °C, normal from −29 to +120 °C, high-temperature from −29 to +160 °C. The body is made of ASTM A350 Gr. LF2, GS-21Mn5 or ASTM A352 Gr. LCC (mod). The ball is made of G-X20Cr14V, ASTM A217 Gr. CA-15, nickel-plated TStE355, ASTM A350 Gr. LF2 with electroless nickel plating, or A479 type 410. Flanges and weld-end nipples are made of TStE355, A350 LF2, A352 LCC (mod), other materials on request.
The catalogue contains face-to-face lengths and weights, for example for PN 100 / CLASS 600 the 6″ size has a length of 559 mm. Design, manufacture and testing follow EN 12266-1, API 6D / ISO 14313, AD2000 and ASME Sec. VIII Div.1. Tightness, function and fire resistance are verified according to ISO 5208, DIN 3230 T5 PG3 for gas, and ISO 10497 / API 607. The valve is supplied with the manufacturer's electro-hydraulic, gas-hydraulic and manual actuators.
