Description
Type G is a fully welded, maintenance-free ball valve for above-ground and underground installation on transmission pipelines, compressor stations and platforms. It handles natural and sour gas, oil, including sour oil, and hot and cold water. The fully welded body eliminates detachable joints through which leaks could occur. The maintenance-free seal and support technology allows the valve to be buried in the ground without access to internal parts for its entire service life. The spherical shape of the body withstands high pressure and bending moments from the pipeline at low weight.
Sizes range from ½″ to 60″, with design pressure up to CLASS 1500. Valves of ½″–2″ have a three-piece body with flanges or butt-weld ends and a floating ball. From 2″ at pressures above 100 bar and in all larger sizes (3″–12″ and 14″–56″) a trunnion-mounted ball with self-centring spring-loaded seats is used. The stem is protected against blow-out and has a double independent seal with an additional fire-resistant packing. The design is antistatic and allows the passage of cleaning and inspection pigs. The closure is sealed by one of three systems, namely PMSS (primary metal, secondary soft), SO (soft) or MM (metal to metal), and the seats may have a single or double piston effect. From 14″ a borescope inspection port is provided as standard.
The standard temperature range is −29 to +50 °C, with a low-temperature version from −60 °C and a high-temperature version up to +160 °C. The body is made of P355NL1 or A350 LF2, the ball of A350 LF2 with chrome or nickel plating, the flanges of C21/A105 or A350 LF2, the stem of S420NL or A276 type 420, and the seat rings of 1.4006 or A182 F6a with partial chrome plating. Other materials are available on request. Connections are flanged, butt-weld or with welded-on flanges.
The valve has been tested at high differential pressure across the seat, has a fire-safe design and holds TA-Luft approval. Compliance and approvals cover API 6D (monogram), API Q1, PED, AD2000-HP0 and W0, DVGW, ÖVGW, SVGW, DIN EN 14141, ISO 14313, EN 12266 and API 6FA / BS 6755. The valve is suitable for use in SIL systems. It is fitted with the manufacturer's gas-hydraulic, pneumatic, electro-hydraulic and manual actuators. The EC type-examination certificate under Directive 2014/68/EU covers sizes DN 1 1/4″ – DN 56″, so the extreme sizes of the ½″–60″ range need to be confirmed.
