Description
PERAR DEB / DEC twin ball valves combine two shut-off elements, that is two trunnion-mounted balls, in one solid body. In the company's view, this is the best option for equipment isolation where double block and bleed (DBB) is required. The same scheme can be assembled from two separate valves, a connecting pipe and a drain valve, but it is more expensive, heavier and gives more joints, that is more potential leak points.
The body is forged, in three parts with side entry, joined by bolts. The balls rest on outer trunnions bolted to the body, so pressure loads are transferred to the body, the balls rotate smoothly with low torque, and wear of the seat seals is reduced. Balls and stems are independent, bearings are reinforced, seats are floating and spring-loaded, and the valve is bidirectional. The design is fire-safe, with an anti-static device and blow-out proof stems.
The DEB model covers sizes from 4 to 68 inches (API 6A from 2 9/16 to 21 1/4 inches), and the DEC model (designation SB) covers small sizes from 1/2 to 3 inches (API 6A 1 13/16–3 1/8 inches). Both are made for ASME classes 150–2500 and API 6A 2000–15000 psi, for temperatures from −196 to +400 °C, designed to API 6D, API 6A, CSA Z245.15 and ASME B16.34. Face-to-face length is to the company standard. Cryogenic and high-temperature versions are offered.
Body and seat seals are made of FKM rings (Viton A, GLT, AED), HNBR, FFKM, PTFE lip seals with an Elgiloy spring, graphite packing and gaskets. Seat inserts are made of FKM, HNBR, PTFE/RPTFE, nylon/Devlon V, PCTFE (Kel-F), PEEK or metal with a tungsten carbide or chromium carbide coating. Seats are self-relieving as standard; on request, metal seats, hardfacing, an extended bonnet and weld-end nipples are available. Connections are made with ASME B16.5/B16.47 and 6B/6BX flanges, butt weld, hub and ISO 27509 compact flanges; small models also have threaded and socket weld ends.
The valves are used for isolation of instruments and gas metering stations, equipment isolation during maintenance, compressor piping, sampling, chemical injection lines on platforms, FPSO units and onshore fields, and also in pipeline transport.
