Description
The PERAR 3-Way three-way ball valve has a universal design. The T or L shaped bore of the ball, together with a specially selected actuator, suits various tasks, including switching flow between two lines, mixing, distribution and equipment bypassing. The valve is built on a solid forged block with three covers and a trunnion-mounted ball.
Design is to API 6D and ASME B16.34 or to API 6A. Seats are spring-loaded with metal-to-metal sealing; the primary soft seal is standard, and a primary metal seal is made on request. The stem is blow-out proof, and fire testing is done to API 6FA. Flow diagrams for T and L versions are provided for each port. As standard the valve has full bore, an air port (for sizes above 6 inches), an anti-static device, rotating flanges that make installation easier, a fire-safe design and replaceable seats. On request, hardfacing of sealing and wetted surfaces is applied.
The size table is oriented to high pressures: valves from 2 to 8 inches are made as standard for 3750, 6250 and 10000 psi, and on request for 15000 psi; 10 and 12 inches are made for 3750, 6250 and 10000 psi. The 14 inch size is available for 3750 psi as standard and 6250 psi on request. Sizes from 16 to 24 inches are made on request. Body and flange materials include AISI 4130 steel (uncoated) and other grades depending on the medium, including ASTM A694 F60, 22 % Cr duplex steel, 25 % Cr super duplex, SS 410 and Inconel 625. Body and seat seals are made of NBR AED, HNBR AED, Viton A or Viton GLT, seat inserts of PEEK, PCTFE or nylon, and fasteners of ASTM A320 L7 / A193 B7 with Xylan coating.
According to the company, three-way valves are used on FPSO units, LNG terminals, offshore and onshore fields, in pipeline transport, power generation, refining and petrochemicals, and at desalination plants. In the high-pressure gas industry they are used for line switching at measurement and gas treatment stations, on well manifolds, in the piping of filter-separators and when switching standby equipment trains, where the number of valves and welded joints needs to be reduced compared with a scheme of two straight-through valves.
