Description
The manufacturer is one of the leading suppliers of subsea valves: it entered this market in the 1970s, and in 1981 introduced the subsea top-entry ball valve. The subsea range is designed to API 6DSS (pipelines) and API 17D / API 6A (subsea wellhead equipment and manifolds). It includes trunnion ball valves with top and side entry, Triforce floating ball valves, slab gate valves, double expanding gate valves, swing and fast-closing (non-slam) check valves, and control valves, namely globe, caged ball and axial types.
Trunnion ball valves are full or reduced bore, with metal seats, a flow path profile without obstacles for pigs, a body designed for all expected loads including installation loads, and a primary double-sided metal to metal body seal. Range: API 6DSS classes 150–1500 from 2 to 48 inches, 2500 up to 32 inches; API 6A/17D 2k–5k from 1 13/16 to 34 inches, 10k up to 24 inches, 15k up to 8 inches. Slab gate valves have metal to metal sealing on the seat and body, with mating fully overlaid slab and ring surfaces (classes 150–1500 up to 42 inches, 2500 up to 30 inches). Double expanding gate valves give an internal double barrier; check valves lock in the open position by ROV and pass pigs in both directions.
For all types the patented Infinity metal stem seal is available, double isolation (two pairs of closure members in one body), and versions with self-relieving seats or a double piston effect. Materials include steel with corrosion-resistant overlay, duplex, super duplex and nickel alloys. Operation is by a gearbox for ROV, a hydraulic actuator with ROV manual override or an electric multi-turn actuator.
Qualification tests include PR2 to API 6A / ISO 10423 annex F, endurance tests to API 17D, sand slurry tests to API 6A annex I class II and API 6AV1, and hyperbaric tests to API 17D annex L. The company's own hyperbaric chambers simulate depths up to 5000 m. Subsea valves are used at offshore gas fields and on offshore sections of gas pipelines.
