Description
For subsea equipment piping the manufacturer produces small high-pressure valves: needle valves (Needle), triple needle valves (Triple Needle) and rotary gate valves (Rotary Gate). All of them are made from forgings to API 6A PSL3 and are designed to operate at rated pressure without leakage over a long service life.
Subsea needle valves are designed to API 6A and API 17D. Their typical use is isolation of downhole valve lines, gasket test lines, drain lines and other auxiliary pipelines. The sealing is metal-to-metal, the stem uses non-elastomeric seals that rule out gradual degradation, and the stem is blowout-protected and can operate at full rated pressure. Triple needle valves combine three needles in one body and provide double block and bleed (DB&B) with metal sealing, that is a compact isolation unit for instruments and auxiliary lines. Sizes are 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 inch, pressures 5000 psi (2500 lbs), 10000 and 15000 psi. Options include a flanged inlet, diver or ROV operation, low operating torque and qualification to API 6A/17D.
Subsea Rotary Gate valves (API 6A and API 17D) have bidirectional sealing and a metal seat with tungsten carbide overlay on the body and flat gates made of solid tungsten carbide. All primary pressure boundaries are metal-sealed, the gaskets are BX, and the stem is blowout-protected. Sizes are 1/2 and 3/4 inch, pressures API 10000–15000 psi, temperatures −46…+145 °C. They can be operated by a diver, an ROV or a dedicated hydraulic actuator; electrical continuity is provided.
The body and bonnet are made of 22 % Cr duplex, 25 % Cr super duplex or Inconel 625; the trim is duplex, super duplex, Inconel 625, 718 and 725. Sealing is provided by PTFE+Elgiloy lip seals, PTFE+PEEK+Elgiloy V-packings and HNBR AED seawater-resistant rings. Fasteners are A320 L7/A193 B7 and L7M/B7M with Xylan or nickel-zinc coating, A453 Gr.660 and super duplex S32760.
The valves are used in the control systems and piping of subsea trees, manifolds and modules at offshore gas fields.
