Description
Through Conduit Slab Gate valves have been made by the manufacturer since the 1970s. They were supplied to a number of the largest oil and gas projects and work as on/off shutoff valves, ESDV emergency shutdown valves and final elements of HIPPS systems. In the open position the slab with a through bore forms a smooth bore without pockets, so the valve passes cleaning and inspection pigs and offers almost no resistance to flow.
The design is fully serviceable in line, and the primary seat-to-body seal is metal to metal. The seats are metal with tungsten carbide or chromium overlay, or with PTFE/RPTFE inserts. Double block and bleed (DBB), a rising or non-rising stem and a seat skirt for operation in contaminated media are provided. The bonnet is bolted or self-sealing (pressure seal). The valves are single- or double-sided, full or reduced bore, with an anti-blowout stem.
Range to API 6D: ANSI classes 150–600 from 2 to 64 inches, 900 up to 54 inches, 1500 up to 48 inches, 2500 up to 30 inches. To API 6A: 3k–5k from 1 13/16 to 34 inches, 10k up to 16 inches, 15k up to 10 inches. Materials include low-temperature carbon or low-alloy steel with corrosion-resistant overlay, duplex, super duplex and nickel alloys; seals are elastomers, thermoplastics or metal.
Options include NACE construction, special bore, bypass, live loaded packing, soft seat, and extended stem and bonnet. Connections are RF/RTJ flanges, compact and studded flanges, weld ends and hub. Operation is by handwheel or manual gearbox, electric multi-turn actuator or linear pneumatic actuator. A compact version (Compact Slab Gate) and a version for product receiving stations (boarding valves) with DBB are available. Metal-sealed valves have passed API 6AV1 class II validation.
Compliance with ANSI, API, ASME, BS, ISO, NACE and PED. At high-pressure gas facilities slab gate valves are installed on the line section, in pig launcher and receiver traps, at the gas distribution station inlet and in overpressure protection systems.
