Description

The company makes plug valves under two brands. The first has been known since 1906 for high quality plug valves. The second has supplied valves for controlling oil and gas flows to the largest international companies in the industry since 1994. The main design is valves with a balanced tapered plug.

Such valves are produced at the group's main plant in Pavia (Rivanazzano Terme), where a warehouse stock is also kept. At the customer's request, standard products can be made at the plant in Suzhou (China), which produces plug valves alongside ball valves. In a balanced design the force on the plug is reduced, so less effort is needed to turn it than in valves without balancing.

Plug valves are used as shut-off valves on oil, gas and petroleum product pipelines, at gas stations and in process plants. They are valued for their simple design, tightness and ability to work with contaminated media. The main industries are oil and gas, transport and processing. The main plant is certified to API 6D and API 6A, PED, ATEX and EAC (TR CU). It has test benches, test bunkers and equipment for cryogenic and high-temperature testing. These data refer to the plant, not to an individual valve series.

The valves can have pneumatic, hydraulic, gas-hydraulic or electric actuators made by the company itself. Size ranges, pressure classes and materials are not given in open materials, so they are clarified for a specific project. Selection requires data on the medium, working pressure and temperature, and on the required actuator.

A plug valve shuts off the flow by turning the plug a quarter turn, and the port in the plug in the open position coincides with the bore of the body. This design is convenient for frequent switching and manual operation, and a quarter-turn actuator is easy to mount on the valve. Balancing the plug reduces friction in the plug and body pair, which is important for large diameter valves. In the gas industry such valves are considered as line shut-off valves on gas pipelines and at gas station units. The products can be purchased separately or as complete sets.
