Description
Ex-Plug, V-Shape and HXL cover three rotary designs for tasks that need high capacity, a wide control range and compactness.
Ex-Plug has an eccentric plug, that is, it is a rotary globe valve combining a high Cv, compact dimensions and a durable seal. It suits a wide range of industrial processes. Range from 1 to 12 inches, ANSI classes 150–600, PN 10–100, full or reduced bore. V-Shape is a segmented ball valve with a V-notch that combines the strength of a globe valve with the efficiency of a rotary one. The shearing action of the V-notch edge across the seal gives smooth operation without clogging, and the straight-through flow path widens the control range. The seat is double-sided. Range from 1 to 16 inches, ANSI classes 150–600, PN 10–100.
HXL is a trunnion ball control valve with a split body. It is configured with different trim geometries to meet requirements for capacity, control range, flow characteristic, cavitation and noise. This also includes the Cage Ball caged ball valve with a small dead band, where the stem and ball are one part. It has an equal-percentage characteristic and a low-noise cage, suits throttling of gas and liquid, and its top entry allows in-place servicing. For HXL, classes 150–1500 are made from 2 to 42 inches and class 2500 from 2 to 30 inches. The seat is metal or soft.
Common to all three. Materials: carbon, low-temperature and low-alloy steels, austenitic stainless steels, duplex and super duplex steels, nickel alloys, aluminum bronze, titanium and EN grades. Stem packing is graphite, PTFE or low-emission. The leakage class is up to IV for the metal seat and VI for the soft seat. A silencer or anti-cavitation disc is optionally fitted, and the shaft has blowout protection. Connections are ANSI/DIN flanges (RF/RTJ), and for HXL also compact and studded flanges and hub. Actuators are pneumatic, electric, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic or a manual gearbox.
Fugitive emission tests have been made to ISO 15848-1, and the SIL assessment to IEC 61508 reaches SIL 3. In the gas industry HXL is used for pressure and flow control on large-diameter trunk lines and gas distribution stations, and Ex-Plug and V-Shape on gas treatment process lines.
