Description
CHV-R are angle choke valves for controlling well flow rates and for throttling in severe conditions. The manufacturer offers them in place of chokes with an external sleeve, rotating disc chokes, globe and angle control valves. Typical applications include oil and gas production with multiphase flow, water and gas injection into the reservoir, gas lift, and Joule-Thomson throttling at gas treatment plants. The experience of optimising flow paths and trims gained in creating axial valves was also used by the manufacturer in angle chokes.
The Total Velocity Management® concept controls the velocity of the medium in all zones of the valve and minimises erosion of the body and trim. The improved shape of the gallery and flow path increases uptime and production. The standard design contains a cage, a piston and a choke bushing made of high-quality solid tungsten carbide, the grade of which is selected for the operating conditions. The balanced trim and low-friction seals allow small actuators to be used and precise control even at minimum opening. The high capacity and wide range suit both start-up and the depletion stage of a well: trims with large bores are intended for well clean-up, and high-capacity ones for minimum pressure loss.
The threaded safety bonnet eliminates the known risk of trapped pressure when disassembling chokes with a bolted bonnet. The number and weight of trim parts are small, which simplifies maintenance, and with an angle drive the choke is serviced without removing the actuator and instrument connections. On request the valve is equipped with a FloSafe® bushing to protect the relief system from overload.
Sizes are 2″–8″, pressure classes ASME 600–2500 or API 3000–10 000, and larger sizes and pressures up to API 15 000 are made on request. Trims are available for liquid, gas and multiphase media with linear and equal-percentage characteristics. Low emission Class B per ISO 15848-1 and fire resistance per API 6FA are certified. The actuator can be pneumatic, hydraulic, electric or electro-hydraulic. There is a separate version with a 24 V DC low-voltage actuator of not more than 60 W for autonomous solar stations, UPS and batteries in well cluster automation systems. This actuator has a manual override with a handwheel, a self-locking spindle, IP68 protection and II2 Ex IIB T4 explosion protection.
