Description
The manufacturer has made check valves since the late 1960s and offers four main designs, which allow the valve to be matched to flow velocity, water hammer requirements and pig passage. All onshore versions are designed to API 6D and comply with ANSI, API, ASME, BS, ISO, NACE and PED.
Swing Check valves have a bolted bonnet or pressure seal bonnet, a metal or soft seat and a large set of accessories: a hydraulic damper (dashpot), a pig passage device, a disc lock, a counterweight and a position indicator. The range in the API 6A version is 3k up to 44 inches, 5k up to 30 inches, 10k up to 16 inches, 15k up to 10 inches.
Dual Plate valves are made in wafer, lug and monobloc bodies with flanges or hub. The plate pins are held in the body without through holes in the pressure-retaining wall. The spring selection combines minimum pressure loss with no chatter. Nozzle Check axial valves (short and long patterns to ANSI B16.10) have a hydrodynamically optimized flow path and fast spring-assisted non-slam closing, so they are installed on compressor and pump discharge. Tilting Disk valves are made with top access (bolted bonnet or pressure seal) and in a short wafer or monobloc version. They are bubble-tight.
Range for dual plate, axial and tilting disk valves: ANSI classes 150–600 from 2 to 48 inches, 900 up to 44 inches, 1500 up to 30 inches, 2500 up to 16 inches. Materials include low-temperature carbon or low-alloy steel with corrosion-resistant overlay, duplex, super duplex and forged nickel alloys; the closure members are overlaid with stellite. The designs are fire safe, and NACE versions are made to order.
Subsea swing and non-slam valves to API 6DSS/17D (up to 48 inches, class up to 2500 and API up to 15k) have ROV-operated lock in the open position and a pig guide. In the gas industry check valves are installed on compressor discharge, on branch pipelines, at underground gas storage and at connection stations.
