Description
The company makes butterfly valves under two brands. The first has produced butterfly valves since 1957 and has gained recognition from the largest operators in the industry. The products are made at the main plant in Pavia (Rivanazzano Terme), where a warehouse stock is maintained. The second brand is known for high-performance butterfly valves for the chemical and petrochemical industries and for the transport of oil and natural gas.
Cryogenic valves with good performance at low temperatures, down to −196 °C, form a separate line. They are suitable for liquefied natural gas plants. Such valves are needed where ordinary materials and seals lose their elasticity, so they are developed and tested specially for cold service. Butterfly valves are used as shut-off and shut-off and control valves of large diameters on pipelines, in the piping of tanks and process plants, at LNG terminals, in cooling water systems and in auxiliary systems of gas facilities. They are chosen when compactness and low weight matter compared with ball valves and gate valves.
The main plant has equipment for cryogenic testing at −196 °C, high-temperature testing up to +300 °C and a climatic chamber from +100 to −60 °C. The company is certified to API, PED, ATEX and EAC (TR CU).
The valves can be supplied with the company's own actuators, and as control butterfly valves they are part of the company's control valve program. Sizes, pressure classes, materials and the seal design are not given in the available materials, so they are agreed for the project.
The disc turns a quarter turn in the body and in the open position lies along the flow, so hydraulic resistance is low. For LNG terminals the materials of the body, disc and seal are chosen with the minimum temperature in mind, and cryogenic versions are checked on equipment that works down to −196 °C. The valves can be purchased separately or as complete sets together with actuators. An order requires the diameter, working pressure, medium and temperature range, and the actuator type. Such data make it possible to compare the valve with a ball or gate valve at the same unit.
