Description

BF 32 is a butterfly valve for shutting off flow with low pressure losses. It is used with natural gas and other pre-filtered non-corrosive gases, mainly in medium and low pressure distribution networks. It can also be used for liquids where tight shut-off, low hydraulic resistance and a short face-to-face length are needed. Working media are gas, compressed air and hydrocarbons.

Typical installation points are the inlet and outlet valves of pressure reduction stations and units, lines of industrial consumers, boiler houses and power plants, and equipment piping where a short face-to-face length matters. The disc can be turned through 360° with self-cleaning of the seat, without removing the body from the pipeline. The valve is bidirectional and is installed with any flow direction.

The disc has two sealing rings, and in the closed position the internal seal is tight. A port in the body is used to check tightness without dismantling and to lubricate the seat seal without releasing pressure in the pipeline. The spherical body seat is chromium-plated, so the valve keeps its tightness for a long time and has low operating torques. The valve is a shut-off device that keeps pressure losses low in the open position, and for gases and liquids these losses are calculated separately with the corresponding equations.

Maximum working pressure is 16 bar for UNI PN16 flanges and 19 bar for ANSI 150 RF, and working temperature is from −10 to +150 °C. Nominal sizes are from DN 50 to DN 250. The body and disc are made of ASTM A105 steel, the stem is AISI 410 stainless steel, the sealing ring retainer is AISI 304, the bushing is self-lubricating, and the sealing ring is fluoroelastomer (Viton), NBR on request.

The valve is manufactured to UNI 11354, and the face-to-face length complies with UNI 11354, ISO 5752, MSS SP-67 and the British standard. Pressure losses of the fully open valve are calculated with the formulas from the technical brochure through the flow coefficient Cv. The tabulated values were measured on valves assembled at least 8 days earlier and lubricated with grease. On request the valve is supplied with various actuators. The working pressure exceeds 5 kPa, so the item is classed as medium pressure equipment.
