Description
Ball valves are the core product of the company. They are made at the main plant in Rivanazzano Terme (Pavia province), where plug valves and butterfly valves are also produced. At the customer's request, part of the standard products is made at the second plant in Suzhou (China). The family covers valves with a trunnion-mounted ball and with a floating ball. The body can be bolted side-entry, fully welded or top entry. Cryogenic and high-temperature versions are also available.
The valves work on gas and oil transmission pipelines, at compressor stations, in underground gas storage, at gas treatment and LNG plants, and at offshore facilities, including subsea ones. The Suzhou plant makes valves to API 6D and API 6A in sizes from ½″ to 36″ with pressure up to Class 2500 / 10 000 psi. Bodies are made of carbon steel, low-temperature alloy steels, stainless steels, duplex, super duplex and Inconel.
The main plant is certified to API 6D, API 6A, API 6DSS (subsea pipeline valves) and API 17D, as well as to PED, ATEX and EAC (TR CU). The Chinese plant has a capacity of about 200 000 valve units per year. It has areas for cryogenic testing and high-pressure gas testing. In Italy there are test benches for valves and assemblies and two test bunkers. Equipment for cryogenic (−196 °C) and high-temperature (+300 °C) testing is complemented by a climatic chamber from +100 to −60 °C, the largest in the country.
The valves are supplied with the company's own actuators. Ball valve stock is held at the Canadian branch in Edmonton, which also assembles and tests actuators and repairs valves. Size ranges and pressures for the Italian plant are not given in the available materials, so they are clarified for the project.
The main plant is equipped with gantry cranes of 60 t capacity, overhead cranes of 2 t and forklifts of 100 t. There are also two painting and shot blasting lines. The products can be purchased separately or as complete sets together with actuators and other valves. The choice between a trunnion-mounted and a floating ball, and between a bolted and a welded body, depends on size, pressure and medium, and the final configuration is agreed at the project stage.
