Description
KSTAR BluePulse consists of hybrid PCS units of the KAC series and BC battery cabinets on LFP cells. The PCS KAC20DP2 – KAC125DP2 have a power of 20–125 kW, a maximum efficiency of 97–98% and an ingress protection rating of IP65/IP66. The KAC20-50DP2 line covers models of 20, 25, 29.9, 30, 40, 49.9 and 50 kW, and KAC80-125DP2 covers models of 80, 100, 110 and 125 kW. Solar panels connect directly to the PCS, so the system works with both DC-coupled and AC-coupled generation.
KSTAR battery cabinets are produced in air-cooled and liquid-cooled versions. Cabinets BC70–107DE2, BC197–233DE2 and BC220–260DE2A are air-cooled, while BC208/260DLE have a liquid circuit. Cabinet capacity is 71.7–260 kWh, made up of modules of 17.92 kWh on LFP cells of 280 Ah. The cabinet ingress protection rating is IP54. For safety, the cabinet has a carbon monoxide sensor, sound and light alarms, an exhaust fan, explosion-relief glass, an air inlet valve and a water port for fire extinguishing.
The built-in STS switches the system between grid and off-grid mode in about 10 ms. This time is given for a single PCS with a purely active load. The built-in BMS and EMS support self-consumption, peak shifting, time-of-use operation and backup power. Up to 20 PCS can be connected in parallel to the grid, and up to 10 in the mode with off-grid operation. The system scales up to 1 MW and 4 MWh.
The grid side of the PCS operates at 230/400 V or 220/380 V in a 3L+PE+N scheme with a tolerance of −15% to +10%. The power factor is adjustable from 0.8 inductive to 0.8 capacitive. The PCS monitors the grid and detects ground faults.
The KSTAR system complies with UL 9540A, UN38.3, IEC 62619, IEC 62477 and IEC 63056, as well as IEC 62040 and IEC 61000-6-2/4. It is used at factories, hotels and farms, where solar generation is combined with storage for self-consumption and backup.
