Synchronizers and synchro-check controllers from the manufacturer for closing circuit breakers to connect parts of a power system in parallel. The device controls the breaker with synchronization against the reference voltage of the busbar or feeder and protects it from impermissible current at the moment of closing. They are used on bus-tie, line and generator breakers of 110–400 kV substations.

Description
The range includes the SO-52v11-S-2 and SO-52v11-S-3 controllers and the SO-5431 synchronizer. The earlier SO-52v11-S and SO-52v11-S-1 are not recommended for new projects and have been replaced by the S-2 model. The synchronizer controls the connection of two transmission lines and performs synchronous closing of circuit breakers in switchgear bays of all voltage classes. In a substation it works in a central synchronization scheme serving several breakers, or as a field synchronizer of a single breaker.
The SO-52v11-S-2 closes breakers single-phase or three-phase, performs synchronous and asynchronous closing at large frequency differences and monitors synchronism in one or three phases. Voltages for synchronization are selected automatically according to the topology. Bays with 1 breaker, 2 breakers and the 3/2 scheme are preconfigured, and an arbitrary topology of up to 5 breakers can be set without external switching circuits. Up to 12 voltages (8 measurement points) are connected to the controller, which monitors the health of the voltage circuits and their asymmetry. Eight setting banks adjust the parameters to the current network mode.
The synchro-check controller consists of modules in an enclosed 10″/6U case for panel or rack mounting. The number of digital input and output modules depends on the bay type, and the minimum configuration has one MWS input module and one MSS output module. The case holds the MPA-400 measurement and communication module, MWS-208 digital input modules for 220 V DC, MSS-328 control output modules for 5 A/220 V DC and MSS-238 for 0.25 A/220 V DC, and the MZA-410 power supply unit. The MPA-400 module performs measurements, calculations and control algorithms and handles internal and external communication.
The Modbus, DNP 3.0, PN-EN 60870-5-10x and PN-EN 61850 protocols give full interoperability with higher-level systems from different vendors. The closing command arrives through digital inputs or by protocol. The course of synchronization is recorded in non-volatile memory, and time is synchronized with a resolution better than 1 ms by protocol or from an NTP/SNTP server. Parameters are set locally or remotely with the pConfig program. The devices work in heavy dust, humidity and electromagnetic interference. Synchronous closing functions are also built into the SO-52v11 controllers and the SO-52v11-eMW breaker module, and the synchronizers are also used to connect distributed generation for parallel operation.
