SO-52v11-eMC-A, SO-52v11-eMB, USP-001-PZ — cooling control and transformer monitoring
The company produces cooling system controllers and auxiliary converters for power transformers that work together with SYNDIS OMT and SYNDIS ESB. SO-52v11-eMC-A controls cooling of oil-filled two- and three-winding transformers and autotransformers, SO-52v11-eMB monitors the cooling system, and USP-001-PZ transmits the OLTC position. The applications cover 110–400 kV transformers and autotransformers and generator step-up transformers of power plants.

Description
The main task of SO-52v11-eMC-A is to keep the temperature of solid insulation within set limits without overheating, and the controller also monitors the oil insulation. The required temperature has to be maintained regardless of variable load, ambient temperature and other conditions. The controller implements cooling control algorithms of the OFAF, ODAF, ONAN and ONAF types, switches pumps and fans grouped by cooling stages on and off, with rotation of the order in which groups are switched on. Periodic automatic switching on of cooling prevents equipment from stagnation, and control by a current criterion operates in parallel.
The main input quantities include the measured maximum top-oil temperature, the load current and the cooling state, and external discrete signals are also accepted, for example on energising of the transformer. A thermal model is implemented for each winding, the controller calculates the hot-spot temperature, and the calculation method is chosen during configuration. It determines ageing of paper insulation, sets alarm thresholds for winding and oil temperatures, and monitors the oil level. Permissible loads and the time before critical parameters are exceeded are passed to control centres or local SCADA.
The inputs are configured for resistive or current sensors, and winding temperature can be measured with fibre optic sensors. The device has 4 independent Ethernet 100Base-FX channels, RS-485 lines for intelligent sensors, a local or remote LCD terminal with a touch keypad, and works with the substation control system under PN-EN 61850. The modular design allows the number of measurements, discrete inputs, outputs and analog outputs for indication to be increased.
USP-001-PZ passes the tap changer position to the control system. Diagnostic devices of the USP-x01-PZ series work with motor-driven OLTCs of any manufacturer: they measure the active power of the drive during switching, compare it with reference finger print curves and generate an event if the deviation exceeds a threshold. Records are passed to the READIAG software in COMTRADE format. The group also includes the cooling monitoring device SO-52v11-eMB, the CPT-00x measuring probe and the SO-52v11-eMT remote control system for distributed interlocks with a modular IP50 design and SNTP synchronisation with a resolution of less than 1 ms. Brochures are published for SO-52v11-eMC, USP-x01-PZ and SO-52v11-eMT.

Questions and answers
Which cooling system types does SO-52v11-eMC-A support?
The controller implements algorithms for OFAF, ODAF, ONAN and ONAF systems of oil-filled transformers and autotransformers. It controls groups of pumps and fans with rotation of the switching-on order.
How does the controller determine winding temperature?
From the top-oil temperature, the load current and the cooling state, it calculates the hot-spot temperature by the thermal model of each winding. Direct measurement with fibre optic sensors is also possible.
OLTCs of which manufacturers are USP-x01-PZ devices suitable for?
They work with transformers that have a motor-driven OLTC of any manufacturer. Switching records are passed to the READIAG software in COMTRADE format.
