Description
MCDTV4 from the HighPROTEC line protects high, medium and low voltage transformers, and differential protection is only its basis. By voltage measurement the terminal detects critical transformer conditions, for example overexcitation. The grid connection package is used for protection at the point of common coupling, including protection by reactive power direction at reduced voltage. Built-in backup protections allow the terminal to back up downstream circuit breakers. The functions are adapted to VDE-AR-N 4110:2023-09.
Phase overcurrent protection has six stages, directional and non-directional, with ANSI/IEC characteristics and the 51C/51V functions. Earth fault protection has four stages, non-directional or directional with multi-polarization, and there is also wattmetric protection. Two stages protect against load unbalance. Voltage protection works with six stages V<, V>, V<(t) and six stages of voltage asymmetry monitoring. The fourth voltage input is assigned to two VE> stages or to synchronism check. Frequency protection has six stages (f>, f<, df/dt, vector jump). Six power protection stages are set as P>, P<, Pr, Q>, Q<, Qr, S>, S<, supplemented by two power factor stages and a limit on the maximum exported power.
The grid connection package is collected in one menu. It includes non-selective load shedding depending on the direction of active power, high voltage ride through HVRT and fault ride through FRT/LVRT with adjustable profiles and coordination with auto-reclosing, Q-U protection, automatic reconnection, transfer trip to the circuit breaker and synchronism through a transformer. THD protection and recording of current, power and energy maxima are included in the basic delivery. The terminal controls up to six devices.
The hardware is built on a dual-core processor. The Modbus, Profibus, DNP3.0, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-103 and IEC 60870-5-104 protocols have individual data point assignment, time is synchronized via SNTP and IRIG-B, and cybersecurity functions are included. Non-volatile recorders store waveforms for 120 s, 20 faults, 300 events and a trend of 4000 records. Up to 80 logic equations extend protection, control and monitoring. Smart view and waveform analysis are supplied at no extra charge under the all-inclusive concept. MCDTV4 is used on transformers of grid company and industrial substations, and on power export transformers of solar and wind plants.
