VS/AM 58 / VS/AM 65 direct-acting gas relief valves, up to 100 bar

VS/AM 58 and VS/AM 65 are direct-acting spring-loaded relief valves for gas lines. The model 58 is designed for pressure up to 10 MPa (100 bar), the model 65 up to 2 MPa (20 bar), nominal size DN 25. They are installed at the outlet of gas distribution stations, regulator stations and cabinet-type pressure reducing units.

Description

The valve vents gas when the pressure in the system exceeds the set point because of short-term events. When there is no gas offtake, thermal expansion can raise the static pressure downstream of the regulator. The relief valve does not let the pressure rise during changes in gas temperature, water hammer from a sudden change in flow, or leaking closure of the regulator. The valves are intended for pre-filtered non-corrosive gases.

The VS/AM 58 is designed for high-pressure transmission systems and medium-pressure networks. The design pressure is up to 10 MPa (100 bar), accuracy is up to 2 %, and the turndown is up to 1:100. The nominal size is DN 25 (1″), the connection is threaded per EN 10226-1, NPT per ASME B1.20.1 or ANSI 300 and 600 flanged per ASME B16.5. The body is aluminum, the obturator is stainless steel with an NBR seal or, optionally, FKM, and the seat is stainless steel. The valve is designed to EN 4126-1, can be fitted with a limit switch, the BLD 211 relief signaling device, and the adjusting nut can be sealed.

The VS/AM 65 is designed for pressure up to 2 MPa (20 bar) and works in medium-pressure and low-pressure networks. There are three versions by setting range. The BP covers 15–150 mbar, the MP 150–500 mbar and the TR 0.5–7 bar, and the maximum permissible overpressure is 500 mbar, 1 bar and 10 bar respectively. Accuracy is up to 2.5 % depending on the model and set point, the size is DN 25, and the connection is threaded per EN 10226-1, NPT or ANSI 150 flanged. The VS/AM 65 is designed to EN 14382 and certified to PED 2014/68/EU in category IV.

For both valves the ambient and gas temperature is from −20 to +60 °C, and tightness is better than class VI per ANSI/FCI 70-2 (class VIII per ANSI/FCI 70-3). The valves are marked Hydrogen Ready and are compatible with biomethane and blends with up to 20 % hydrogen. For pure hydrogen the VS/AM 58 H and VS/AM 65 H versions are made.
