Description
The S24 regulator is intended for low- and medium-pressure gas pipelines with non-corrosive, pre-filtered gas. It is certified to the PED directive and complies with the European standard EN 334. Active regulators are produced in a Fail Close or Fail Open version.
Inlet pressure reaches 20 bar. The outlet pressure is adjustable over a wide range from 10 to 4000 mbar, so one regulator type serves both the supply of low-pressure networks from medium-pressure gas pipelines and the delivery of gas to industrial units at a pressure of several bar. The regulation accuracy class is up to AC 2.5, the lock-up pressure class up to SG 5, the operating temperature from −20 to +60 °C. Sizes DN25, DN40, DN50 and DN80 have flow coefficients Cg of 500, 1050, 2100 and 4200. The body is made of cast iron or cast steel, the pilot, the actuator body and the cover of aluminium, the diaphragm of rubberized fabric. The pilot senses the downstream pressure and controls the loading of the actuator diaphragm, so the outlet value stays within the set accuracy class when the gas flow changes. The outlet pressure is set on the pilot.
The most common version is trivalent: the main regulator, the monitor and the slam-shut valve (SSV) are assembled in one module. The dimensions of regulator units are reduced, and the top entry to the internal parts simplifies maintenance. Version B has a built-in SSV that trips on both overpressure and underpressure (OPSO/UPSO), version M a built-in monitor, version MB the monitor and SSV together. The configuration is chosen by the unit scheme, and the size by Cg and the required outlet pressure.
According to the application scheme the S24 works in gas distribution networks (pressure up to 20 bar) and in process installations, at pressure reduction stations and in cabinet regulating installations, at the inlets of industrial and municipal enterprises. The regulator is complemented by S26 slam-shut valves and S27 relief valves of the same line. The manufacturer, founded in 1949 in Forbach (France), has made this line the reference for natural gas regulation and metering since 2012. Production is located in France, Italy and India.
