FRM, FRM-NOC — medium-pressure gas regulators, inlet up to 1000/2000 kPa, with slam-shut valve

FRM and FRM-NOC are spring-loaded medium-pressure gas regulators with a maximum inlet pressure of 1000 or 2000 kPa. The outlet pressure is held within 2 to 400 kPa depending on the version, and the regulator can be fitted with a built-in slam-shut valve. Used at the inlet of industrial consumers, on burner gas trains and in gas engines.

Description

The FRM regulator reduces the gas pressure at the inlet and holds the outlet pressure constant in the range of 3 to 400 kPa. Inlet pressure compensation protects the setting from fluctuations in the supply network, so the outlet does not drift with the inlet. The maximum inlet pressure (MOP) is 1000 or 2000 kPa depending on the version, and the nominal pressure of the body is PN 25. The connection is flanged, DN 25, 40, 50, 65 and 80, with an external impulse line. The regulator is installed at the inlet of an industrial consumer, on a burner gas train, in a gas engine and in marine gas systems.

The outlet pressure range depends on the spring. For ND it is 3–10 kPa, for MD 9–42 kPa, for HD 40–150 kPa and for UHD 100–400 kPa. Any FRM version can be supplemented with a built-in SAV slam-shut valve. It shuts off the flow when the pressure goes beyond the upper or lower set point.

The FRM-NOC is designed as a fast-response regulator for consumers whose flow changes sharply. The outlet pressure here is 2–400 kPa: ND 2–10, MD 8–42, HD 30–150, UHD 100–400 kPa. The inlet pressure does not exceed 1000 kPa. The connection is threaded Rp 1, Rp 1 1/2 or Rp 2, or flanged from DN 25 to DN 50. The impulse line is internal or external, and a version with a slam-shut valve is available as an option.

Both types are marked H2 ready. FRM sizes 025, 040 and 050 and the FRM-NOC permit operation on pure hydrogen (100 %), the other versions on mixtures with a hydrogen share of up to 25 %. The regulators operate on gases of families 1, 2 and 3, air, flue gases and non-aggressive gases.

Versions for ships, bodies with anti-corrosion coating of classes C4 or C5M, and variants with ANSI flanges and NPT thread are available. A 3.1 inspection certificate to EN 10204 is added on request. Spare parts include nozzle kits, reed contacts and valve limit switches, and breather caps. Approvals include CE, EAC, UKCA, UA and ATEX.

Questions and answers

What inlet pressure do the FRM and FRM-NOC regulators allow?

For the FRM the maximum inlet pressure is 1000 or 2000 kPa depending on the version. For the FRM-NOC the inlet pressure is up to 1000 kPa.

Can the FRM and FRM-NOC be used on gas containing hydrogen?

Both types are marked H2 ready. FRM sizes 025, 040 and 050 and the FRM-NOC permit 100 % hydrogen, and the other versions operate on mixtures with a hydrogen share of up to 25 %.

What outlet pressure ranges and connections does the FRM have?

The FRM outlet pressure is 3–400 kPa, divided by spring into ND 3–10, MD 9–42, HD 40–150 and UHD 100–400 kPa. The connection is flanged, DN 25, 40, 50, 65 and 80, with nominal pressure PN 25.
