Description
Staflux 185 and Staflux 187 are direct-acting gas pressure regulators for high-pressure systems. The control element is operated by a diaphragm. The controlled pressure acts on one side of it, and the counterpressure of the setting acts on the other. There is no separate pilot, so the design is simpler and responds faster to changes in flow rate.
The regulators are intended for high-pressure transmission systems and medium-pressure natural gas distribution networks and work only with pre-filtered non-corrosive gases. Under EN 334 both are classified as normally open (Fail Open). Staflux 185 is rated for pressure up to 100 bar, with inlet pressure bpu from 2 to 85 bar and outlet Wd from 1 to 75 bar. Sizes are 1″, 2″ and 3″, with flanged connections of classes 300 and 600 RF or RTJ per ASME B16.5. Accuracy class AC is up to 5, and lock-up pressure class SG is up to 10 depending on operating conditions. A built-in safety shut-off valve may be included in the configuration.
Staflux 187 is a model for very high inlet pressure. Design and maximum inlet pressure are up to 250 bar (bpu from 2 to 250 bar), outlet is 1–75 bar, nominal size is 1″, connections are class 1500 RF or RTJ flanges per ASME B16.5, AC is up to 5, SG is up to 10. This range suits pressure reduction of gas downstream of high-pressure compressors, at compressed gas stations, in gas offtake units for own needs and on test stands.
Staflux 187 is marked as Hydrogen Ready for natural gas and hydrogen blends, and a separate Staflux 187 H version is available for pure hydrogen. Design temperature of both regulators is from −20 to +60 °C. Direct-acting regulators of this class are usually used as pressure reducers on low and medium flow lines, for supplying pilots and impulse lines, and as the first stage of reduction. The possible combinations of options are described in the technical manuals, which the manufacturer issues in several languages.
