SBC 782 gas slam shut valve DN 25–250, up to 102 bar

SBC 782 is a slam shut valve (SSV) for large-diameter gas pressure reducing lines, DN 25–250, design pressure up to 10.2 MPa (102 bar). It shuts off the gas flow if the pressure downstream of the regulator goes outside the set points.

Description

The valve instantly shuts off the gas flow if the pressure downstream of the regulator goes outside the set points, and protects the network and consumers from an unacceptable rise or fall in pressure. The main field of use is high-pressure transmission systems and medium-pressure distribution networks. These are gas distribution stations and pipeline offtake points, compressor and booster stations, underground gas storage, LNG terminals and regasification plants, power plants, heavy industry, and commercial consumers with large flow rates.

Tripping takes less than 1 second. The setting is made by a pressostatic device that monitors the pressure downstream of the valve. The valve can be closed manually with a button on the pressure switch or remotely by a signal from the control system. Reopening (resetting) is done only manually, after the cause of the trip has been found and eliminated. The top entry design makes it possible to service the valve without removing the body from the pipeline, and the modular layout of the SB series simplifies installation when existing stations are reconstructed.

The set points are defined in wide ranges. For overpressure (OPSO) they are from 2 kPa to 9 MPa (from 20 mbar to 90 bar), for underpressure (UPSO) from 1 kPa to 9 MPa (from 10 mbar to 90 bar). Accuracy class AG is up to 2.5. Nominal sizes are DN 25, 50, 80, 100, 150, 200 and 250 (from 1″ to 10″). Connections are class 150, 300 and 600 RF/RTJ flanges per ASME B16.5 or PN 16/25/40 per EN 1092-1, and face-to-face length complies with EN 334 and EN 14382. The temperature is from −20 to +60 °C.

The body for ANSI classes 300 and 600 is made of cast steel ASTM A352 LCC, for class 150 and PN 16 of ASTM A216 WCB. The stem is AISI 416, the obturator and seat are stainless steel, and the seals are NBR. The valve is designed to EN 14382, certified to PED 2014/68/EU, and tightness is better than class VIII per ANSI/FCI 70-3. A built-in bypass, a test button, a limit switch and remote tripping are available. The valve is compatible with biomethane, and the SBC 782 H version is made for hydrogen.
