SBC 187 gas slam shut valve (SSV), design pressure up to 250 bar
SBC 187 is a slam shut valve that quickly cuts off the gas supply when the monitored pressure reaches the set point. The design pressure is up to 25 MPa (250 bar), the nominal size is DN 25, and the closing time is under 1 second. It is used in high-pressure transmission systems and medium-pressure distribution networks.

Description
The SBC 187 (slam shut valve, SSV) quickly cuts off the gas supply when the monitored pressure reaches the set point. It is installed mainly in high-pressure transmission systems and medium-pressure distribution networks: at gas distribution stations, compressor and booster stations, in underground storage, at liquefaction and regasification plants, at power plants and large industrial sites, and at fuel gas conditioning units.
The valve closes in less than 1 second. The set point is defined by a pressostatic device that monitors the pressure downstream of the valve. The valve can also be closed manually with a button on the pressure switch or remotely by a signal from the control system. Reopening (resetting) is done only manually, after the cause of the trip has been found and eliminated. The top entry design makes it possible to service the internal parts in place without removing the body from the pipeline. The modular layout of the SB series makes it easier to retrofit existing pressure reducing stations.
The SBC 187 is designed for pressure up to 25 MPa (250 bar) and is the ultra-high-pressure variant, paired with regulators such as the Staflux 187. The set point range for overpressure (OPSO) is 0.2–9 MPa (2–90 bar), for underpressure (UPSO) 0.02–9 MPa (0.2–90 bar), with accuracy class AG up to 2.5 for both functions. The nominal size is DN 25 (1″), connections are ANSI 1500 flanges per ASME B16.5, and face-to-face length is per EN 334 and EN 14382. The ambient and gas temperature is from −20 to +60 °C.
The body is cast steel ASTM A352 LCC, the stem is AISI 416 stainless steel, the obturator and seat are stainless steel, the O-rings are nitrile rubber, and the compression fittings are galvanized carbon steel per DIN 2353. The valve is designed to EN 14382 and certified to PED 2014/68/EU. Obturator tightness is bubble-tight, better than class VIII per ANSI/FCI 70-3. A built-in bypass, a test button, a limit switch and remote tripping are provided. The valve is compatible with biomethane, and the SBC 187 H version is made for hydrogen blends and 100 % hydrogen.
