HFA / HFB cartridge gas filters for gas distribution and regulator stations, up to 100 bar
HFA and HFB are cartridge gas filters for high-pressure and medium-pressure gas pressure reducing and metering stations. Design pressure up to 10 MPa (100 bar), filtration rating 5 µm, efficiency 98 %. They protect regulators, valves and meters from scale, dust and corrosion products.

Description
In pressure reducing and metering stations it is usual to protect pressure regulators, valves, meters and the rest of the equipment from solid particles that may be in the gas. These are scale, dust and corrosion products. The filters are made in various types and sizes, have connections for fitting accessories, a sturdy design, and are easy to install and maintain. The filter element retains solid particles of 5 µm and larger, and the cartridge is accessed through a flanged cover.
The HFA is a filter with in-line connections, the HFB has connections at a right angle. The body can be vertical or horizontal, and the number in the designation corresponds to the cartridge size. The working medium is natural gas, town gas and other non-corrosive gases. The design pressure is up to 10 MPa (100 bar), the operating temperature is from −10 to +100 °C, with a version down to −45 °C possible.
Connections are PN16, Cl.150, Cl.300 and Cl.600 flanges. The permissible pressure depends on the flange class and the temperature, for example for Cl.600 it is 100 bar at +50 °C and 93 bar at +100 °C. The nominal filtration rating is 5 µm, 1, 3 or 50 µm on request, and the filtration efficiency is 98 %. The dirt holding capacity exceeds 12 % of the total filter volume, and drainage is through a drain at the bottom.
The cartridges are made in sizes from G 0.5 to G 6 with a filtration area from 0.06 to 4.2 m². The required area is selected by the manufacturer's formula taking into account the flow rate, the absolute pressure and the recommended gas velocity at the cartridge of 0.33 m/s. The body pipe is made of ASTM A106 Gr. B, the flanges of ASTM A105, and the cartridge of polyester felt on a perforated reinforcing steel plate.
The filters are made either to EN 13445 with EN 1092-1 or ASME B16.5 flanges in accordance with the PED 2014/68/EU directive, or to ASME VIII Div.1 with ASME B16.5 flanges (outside the PED). Accessories are a drain ball valve and a clogging indicator. A hydrogen compatibility declaration has been issued for the HFA filters. For low pressure the manufacturer makes separate filters.
