Description

Aperval is a pilot-operated gas pressure regulator intended primarily for medium and low pressure natural gas distribution networks. It works with pre-filtered non-corrosive gases and under EN 334 is classified as normally open (Fail Open). The pilot scheme holds the outlet pressure accurately at high flow rates and noticeable fluctuations of the inlet pressure, which matters at network stations supplying city districts and industrial zones.

Design pressure is up to 25 bar, inlet pressure is from 0.5 to 25 bar, and outlet pressure is from 0.005 to 9.5 bar. The regulator can reduce medium pressure to low pressure (from 5 mbar) for domestic and commercial networks or maintain medium pressure for industrial consumers. The minimum pressure differential is 0.45 bar.

Nominal sizes are 1″, 2″, 2½″, 3″ and 4″, with flanged connections of class 150 RF or RTJ per ASME B16.5 and PN 16. Accuracy class AC is up to 5 (up to 1 % absolute), and lock-up pressure class SG is up to 10. Design temperature is from −20 to +60 °C, higher or lower temperatures on request.

The configuration may include a safety shut-off valve, a monitor and a silencer; the variants can be combined, and see the technical manual for permissible combinations. A separate Aperval H model is available for 100 % hydrogen, and a hydrogen compatibility declaration is provided for the standard version. The related Aperval 101 model is also part of the range.

The regulator is used at pressure reduction stations and units of medium-pressure networks, in cabinet reduction stations of large consumers, in boiler houses and industrial plants, and in the second stage of reduction after GDS. Inlet pressure up to 25 bar places it in the medium pressure equipment category, although at the outlet it can also produce low pressure.
