Description
Aperflux 851 and Aperflux 101 are pilot-operated gas pressure regulators for high-pressure transmission systems and medium-pressure natural gas distribution networks. They work with pre-filtered non-corrosive gases. Under EN 334 both are classified as normally open (Fail Open), meaning the valve opens if the control signal is lost. For this reason, in GDS schemes they are usually used together with a monitor or a safety shut-off valve.
The main valve is controlled by a pilot. It tracks the downstream pressure and holds it within the set range regardless of fluctuations in inlet pressure and flow rate. Aperflux 851 is the main model of the range. Design pressure is up to 102 bar, inlet pressure bpu is from 1.3 to 85 bar, and outlet pressure Wd is from 0.8 to 74 bar depending on the installed pilot. Nominal sizes are 1″, 2″, 3″, 4″, 6″, 8″ and 10″. Connections are flanged, classes 150, 300 and 600 RF or RTJ per ASME B16.5 or PN 16, 25, 40 per ISO 7005.
The minimum pressure differential for Aperflux 851 is 0.5 bar, with more than 2 bar recommended. Accuracy class AC is up to 2.5, and lock-up pressure class SG is up to 10. The regulator can be fitted with a monitor, a safety shut-off valve and a silencer. The manufacturer marks it as Hydrogen Ready for natural gas and hydrogen blends and issues a hydrogen compatibility declaration.
Aperflux 101 is a compact variant for smaller sizes. Sizes are 2″, 3″ and 4″, classes 300 and 600 RF/RTJ per ASME B16.5, design pressure up to 85 bar, inlet pressure 1.8–85 bar, outlet 0.8–74 bar. The minimum differential is 1 bar (more than 2 bar recommended), AC is up to 2.5, SG is up to 10. Design temperature of both regulators is from −20 to +60 °C, other values on request.
Typical installation points are GDS, pressure reduction stations on branches of transmission gas pipelines, fuel gas conditioning units for turbines and gas engine plants, and industrial pressure reduction stations with high inlet pressure.

Questions and answers
What are the inlet and outlet pressures of Aperflux 851 and Aperflux 101?
Inlet pressure bpu is from 1.3 to 85 bar for Aperflux 851 and from 1.8 to 85 bar for Aperflux 101. Outlet pressure Wd is from 0.8 to 74 bar for both.
Which nominal sizes are available?
Aperflux 851 is made in 1″, 2″, 3″, 4″, 6″, 8″ and 10″, and Aperflux 101 in 2″, 3″ and 4″.
What happens if the control signal is lost?
Both regulators are classified as Fail Open under EN 334, so the valve opens. In GDS schemes they are installed together with a monitor or a safety shut-off valve.
