Description
USM GT400 are multipath ultrasonic gas meters for large flows at high pressure on gas pipelines, gas distribution stations, metering points at the borders of gas transmission systems, power plants, LNG terminals, refineries and other sites where natural gas is used as fuel or feedstock. The meters measure volume flow, accumulated volume, gas velocity and speed of sound, and also diagnose the flow profile. The main GT400 model is built on a six-path design with straight crossing ("X") paths in three planes. It measures swirl, cross flow and asymmetry directly, and a patented live adjustment function and echo measurement reduce the uncertainty.
The technology has been in use for more than 15 years. The meter is resistant to control valve noise and suitable for gas containing H2S. The sizes are DN 80–600 (3″ to 24″, flanges up to ANSI 900, larger by agreement), with an operating pressure of 1 to 300 bar. The uncertainty in the range from Qt to Qmax is ±0.5 % with dry calibration with nitrogen per AGA 9 and ±0.1 % after flow calibration at high pressure, with repeatability of ±0.1 %. Metrological approvals include MID (class 1.0), OIML (class 0.5), Measurement Canada and others. The meter has an input for pressure and temperature sensors, a separate RS 485 interface for connection to the ERZ 2000-NG computer and a Modbus interface for third-party computers and SCADA.
GT400-3P is a three-path model for process metering in gas production and transport where measuring conditions are difficult. The manufacturer highlights it as an alternative to orifice metering runs. It works with pipeline-quality gas, wet gas with a gas volume fraction of up to 0.980, and mixtures of natural gas with hydrogen and air. The sizes are DN 80–300 (3″–12″, ANSI 600), pressure 1–100 bar, with an uncertainty of ±1.0 % on dry gas and ±2.0 % on wet gas (GVF 0.99), confirmed by independent tests.
General characteristics. The ambient temperature is −40 to +55 °C and the gas temperature −40 to +80 °C, the supply is 24 V DC with consumption of about 7 W, and the outputs are 0/4–20 mA, two HF outputs up to 5 kHz and digital outputs. Explosion protection is ATEX/IECEx Ex de IIB + H2 T6 and CSA Class I Div 1, protection IP66, and the body is cast steel ASME A352 LCC. The meter complies with AGA 9, ISO 17089 and OIML R137.
