Description
FMT-S meters are intended for custody transfer of non-corrosive gases (natural gas, propane, butane, air, nitrogen, hydrogen) at low and high operating pressure. Special versions are produced for extreme conditions, high temperatures or corrosive gases. They are manufactured in Bedizzole, Brescia province, Italy.
A feature of the FMT-S is the replaceable measuring cartridge with a built-in multistage jet flow straightener that removes swirl and flow asymmetry. Therefore the meter has a face-to-face length of only 1×DN and needs straight runs of 1×DN upstream and downstream, confirmed by disturbance tests to international standards. The cartridge is mounted on sealing rings, isolated from the body, can be calibrated at low and high pressure and replaced on site. The turbine wheel with inclined blades turns on precision ball bearings, and a gearbox transmits the rotation to a mechanical counter.
The meters cover flow rates from 3 to 25 000 m³/h, sizes from G100 to G16000 and diameters from DN50 to DN600 (2–24″). Nominal pressures are PN10–100 and ANSI 150–600, maximum operating pressure up to 100 bar depending on the material of the body and flanges. Bodies up to 8″ ANSI 150 / PN16 have threaded flanges. For ANSI 300 / PN40 light aluminium bodies are available (DN300 ANSI 300 weighs less than 45 kg), and larger sizes and pressures up to 24″ ANSI 600 are made of steel.
Typical error is ±1 % in the range 0.2Qmax–Qmax and ±2 % in the range Qmin–0.2Qmax, repeatability better than 0.1 %. The error limits are usually half as wide as the MID permissible ones. Calibration on natural gas at pressures up to 100 bar is optionally performed.
The IP67 counter rotates by 350° and is supplied with LF reed or Wiegand sensors, tamper contacts, an encoder and a reverse-run lock. Magnetic fields up to 500 mT do not affect the count. Sensor marking is Ex ia IIC T4…T6 Gb, encoder Ex ib IIB T3…T6 Gb. The meters are approved to MID and OIML R137 and comply with PED. Operating temperature is from −25 to +70 °C, installation horizontal or vertical.
