MSK 2 — microprocessor controller of a gas heating boiler at gas distribution (pressure reducing) stations
MSK 2 is a microprocessor controller of a gas heating boiler for first-stage gas pressure reducing stations, with a 230 V AC supply. It controls the burner, pumps and three-way valves, and has a built-in intrinsically safe barrier and two RS232/RS485 ports with Modbus.

Description
The MSK 2 microprocessor controller manages the boiler in the process of gas heating at gas pressure reducing stations. During pressure reduction natural gas cools down, so first-stage gas distribution stations have boiler rooms that heat the gas before the regulators. MSK 2 is designed specifically for such boiler rooms and controls heating in a stable and safe way, taking into account the requirements of the gas infrastructure.
The device is equipped with mechanisms for monitoring the operation of the gas boiler and with emergency switching systems. The burner (forced-draft or injection, 1- or 2-stage), pumps, three-way valves and a complete safety circuit connect directly to the controller. The set includes liquid temperature sensors and an explosion-proof gas temperature sensor, and the built-in intrinsically safe barrier allows it to be connected without external devices. If the automation fails, the controller switches to manual mode automatically. The safety circuit with water level, gas pressure and flue gas sensors is suitable for installations where process safety is critical.
Together with the emergency boiler module, MSK 2 automatically switches operation to the standby boiler when the supply is lost or the main boiler fails, and cascade operation of boilers is also possible. For a cascade there is the MSK 2/s version without the gas temperature sensor and the intrinsically safe measuring input. Microprocessor control makes it possible to adjust the boiler operating parameters to current process conditions and station requirements, and a choice of regulation algorithm is available, including control of three-way valves. The data transmission system on the Modbus protocol provides remote setting of parameters and current monitoring of the boiler room from a control room.
Technical data: supply 230 V AC, current consumption 0.3 A plus external loads, maximum 10 A, two communication ports RS232/RS485, three liquid temperature sensors, gas temperature measurement, control of the circulation pump and the short-circuit pump. The safety circuit is formed by water level, gas pressure and flue gas sensors. The controller works with a single-stage or two-stage burner, a circulation pump and a short-circuit pump, a three-way valve or an emergency boiler module, and an Ex gas temperature sensor is included in the set.

Questions and answers
Which burners and devices connect to MSK 2?
A forced-draft or injection burner, pumps, three-way valves and a complete safety circuit connect directly to the controller. The set includes three liquid temperature sensors and an explosion-proof gas temperature sensor.
What supply and interfaces does MSK 2 have?
The supply is 230 V AC, the current is 0.3 A plus external loads, maximum 10 A. There are two RS232/RS485 ports and the Modbus protocol.
What happens when the automation or the main boiler fails?
If the automation fails, the controller switches to manual mode. With the emergency boiler module it switches operation to the standby boiler when the supply is lost or the main boiler fails.
