Description
FMR meters are intended for custody transfer of all non-corrosive gases (natural gas, propane, butane, air, hydrogen). Typical applications are gas distribution in low-, medium- and high-pressure networks, industrial sites, and also reference meters of test benches. The meters are approved to MID, comply with EN 12480 and OIML R137-1&2 and with PED. Production is Italian.
The operating principle is volumetric. Two figure-eight rotors turn in the measuring chamber and displace a fixed volume per revolution. The measuring mechanism is made as a replaceable aluminium cartridge inserted into the body. It can be taken out without removing the body from the pipeline, so bearings are repaired and the meter cleaned on site. The robust design of the body and cartridge makes the meter insensitive to installation stresses from the pipeline, and significant flange misalignment does not cause the rotors to jam. Square rotors and an improved arrangement of bearings and shafts increase resistance to overloads and hydraulic shocks.
The patented lubrication system with disc oil distribution eliminates oil losses at high speeds and lubricates the timing gears at low loads. All plugs and sight glasses are on the front side.
Flow rate is from 0.2 to 1000 m³/h, sizes from G10 to G650, diameters DN25–DN200 (1–8″), nominal pressures PN10–100 and ANSI 150–600. The aluminium body is rated for a working pressure up to 20 bar g with a fourfold safety margin. The measuring range is over 1:160, the error is ±1 % in the range Qt–Qmax and ±2 % in the range Qmin–Qt, repeatability better than 0.1 %. Each meter is verified on air against standards traceable to NMi.
The IP67 counter with an aluminium frame is protected against tampering by strong neodymium magnets, and is equipped with LF sensors, tamper contacts, an encoder and a reverse-run lock. An optional built-in bypass is provided for uninterrupted gas supply. Sensor marking is Ex ia IIC T4…T6 Gb. Operating temperature is from −40 to +70 °C, under MID from −25 to +70 °C.
